Another short chapter . I think there will be more.

His presence shocked her that's what he was clearly able to see. Which surprised him all the more that Alice stepped aside, wordless, to let him into her house.

He didn't think about it for long. Now or never. Overall he cursed himself for having shoved that exact moment away for too long. Perhaps this would have been the right way to end his inner turmoil, which haunted him since childhood. He felt the tension increase in his body, the fear of uncertainty. Now a little cocaine for reassurance that would certainly be beneficial. He shouldn't have rejected the offer of his roommate Chic from before. Chic, the only person in his life since months, always provided him with the white magical "powder" to get rid of all present problems for some moments.

He was so deep in his thoughts he only realized how far he got into the Cooper house as he stopped in the middle of the living room with his gaze fixed on the framed pictures on the mantelpiece.

„Sit down." Alice asked him politely. Her eyes hadn't left the young man for a second. She studied him extensively. His features were familiar, too familiar. His shy look, the blue eyes so similar to hers, answered her earlier question at the front door in a roundabout way.

The young man didn't bother to sit down.
„My name is ..."

„Charles", she whispered soft while completing his sentence. „My son..."

„Charles Smith." He confirmed with a nod. She held his gaze but wasn't able to read it. Now she was the one who was standing still into the doorframe and didn't know what she should say. Her heart began to race, broke in thousand pieces. The ground under her feet seemed to dissolve. Her breathing became heavy.

„I'm not here to cause you trouble." He said calmly. „I don't know why I'm here to be honest. I guess I just had to try to get to knwow where I'm coming from and who I really am. Not that I'm searching for my real mother every day, right?! A woman who left me with nuns for whatever reason so my childhood was formed into a nightmare." He paused when he realized he was bombarding Alice with accusations. That's exactly what he didn't intend in the first place. He had no grudge against her decision. He just wanted to know why. „Now I think it was a bad idea. I'm sorry." Charles turned around with the aim to of leaving this house as fast as possible. He had a bad feeling. This fear. He needed Chic. He needed those damn drugs, now.

„No! Don't go!" Alice yelled desperate. „Can we ... can we talk? It's complicated. Please?"
