I insist (hosuh x jay) part two

Hosuhs POV:
I walk to the cafe a bit more happy than usual. It's been 3 weeks ever since I started talking to that "jay" guy. He seems really sweet. He always orders the same thing everyday and he always, always talks to me with respect. I love that so much About him

My face flushes slightly just thinking of the way he treats me with such care. He had even given me his number! This are going great!

The let down is... he calls me his friend. That's great but... I kinda wanna be more than that. Sigh. Can't do anything about it. I'm still happy with what I've got

Daniel still teases me but fan girls every time he sees us together. I'm so lucky to have a best friend like him. He sure makes me feel more confident

I finally take a quick breath right before entering the cafe. i walk in and hang my coat and walk behind the counter grabbing my apron and put it on

I turn around and head for that cashiers but notice that somethings off. For starters it seems like a really slow day. Second there aren't a lot of employees. Only like 4 other than me. And finally, it hits me. Daniel not here.

I look around a bit and confirm Daniels absence. I wipe out my phone and text him
Me: hey, ur late for work
Bud: oooo yeah, about that...
I roll my eyes. "Typical dan" and I text back
Me:So ur skipping?
Bud: hey remember about.. what, 3weeks ago when I took u home
Me:yeah...
Bud: well I said u owe me one. And I wanna use that now. Plus, it's a Wednesday, how busy can it be? Just take my shift this one time ok? ok. Welp  gtg I'm busy with friends. Bye!
He texts. I sigh and put my phone back in my back pocket. I'd usually be pissed but I really don't mind since it is a Wednesday and it's not busy

I put on my smile and order the person in line. I hope I see jay again I think to myself

Hosuhs POV:
I don't get it. I've been working for almost 4 hours yet jay hasnt showed up. No one has walked into the store since 2 hours ago. The drive thru is slightly busy but barely anything.

I sigh and lean on the counter my boredom growing. I begin to tap on the counter and hum some song I heard on my phone this morning. I shut my eyes and rest my head on my hand.

Something taps me on the arm and I gasp. I rub my eyes and look up at who has tapped me "wake up and take my order" I hear a familiar voice say.

My eyesight finally adjusts and its jay! I gasp "jay!" 'Oh shit I sound too excited' I clear my throat "oh, h-hey jay" I say trying to play it cool but ultimately failing

He notices and chuckles "u seem tense. Can I have the usual please?" He asks shooting me his bright smile. My heart clenches and I hesitate "well of course a hot coffee for a hot g- I-I mean... nvm" I say as my face flushes just realizing what I was about to say

Jays eyes widen slightly and a blush settles on his face before he starts to crack up. My face is flushed and I scurry off to give the order the the other employees. I go back to the counter and jay is still there.

We act as if I had said nothing and we chat normally. It's really fun. He tells me a silly story of this one time that he was at school and some guy just started barfing everywhere

I chuckle "ewww. That's so embarrassing!" I say covering my mouth as I laugh. He giggles "I know right? Poor man" he says. I go and fetch his coffee and bring it to him.

He drinks it and smiles. We continue talking. I finally decide to ask "so... u were later than usual today. R u ok?" I ask sweating slightly waiting for his response

He puts on a smooth grin and looks at me "uve been keeping track on what time I'm usually here? Creepy" he says taking another sip of his coffee looking away. I panic "n-no it's... it's just t-that u usual-" I slurr out but he cuts me out with a laugh "I'm kidding I'm kidding. I just think it's kinda cute how u worry over little things" he says as he drinks some more
