"Fernkit- are you sure about this?" Pinekit whined, "Mother said to stay in the nest until She and Firepaw came back."
Fernkit rolled her eyes, flicking her brown striped tail, "One, Firepatch. And two-"
Fernkit paused for affect, her eyes wide and happy, "She's not here!"
Ravenkit twitched her tail, watching Pinekits blue eyes widen at his sister.
"You want to, disobey Mother?"
Fernkit grinned, "She won't know a thing Pinekit. Just don't rat us out!"
Fernkit wrinkled her nose at her brother , and hoped over to Ravenkit, "You ready Ravenkit?"
Ravenkit nodded, wordless with excitement.
"Ready!"
"Good!" Fernkit squeaked with delight, "Im so happy you've opened your eyes Ravenkit, Two against one, right!" Fernkit purred, and nudged her brother one last time playfully. "You wanna come Pinekit? I Know you do!"
Pinekit bit his lip, and glanced over at the entrance. "I-guess I could follow you. Just so you don't get in trouble or anything."
"Great!" Fernkit mewed, nudging them both to the exit. "Let's gogogogo, quickly!!!"The camp was very busy.
Ravenkit squinted, trying her best to adjust her eyesight to the bright camp. There were so many cats! Carrying fuzzy things in their mouths and talking peacefully with one-another. All of their pelts were so different.
"This is so cool!" Fernkit squealed in Ravenkits ear, squirming with delight.
"Watch it." Ravenkit grunted, "You'll blow out my ear."
Fernkit grinned at her, before trotting off into the camp. "Come on slow-kits. We have to find the Medicine cat den!
Ravenkit took a wobbly stride forward, she didn't want to disappoint her sister. As Ravenkit continued to trail after Fernkit, she could feel it getting easier to walk, though she had to scurry to keep up with the tall brown she-cat.
"I think." Pinekit mewed from Ravenkits side. "The Medicine cat den is by the hill."
Fernkit paused, and stared at a mound of what Ravenkit assumed to be the hill.
"Yep!" Fernkit meowed, "thats the Medicine cats den! And- oh! Hide hide hide!!" Fernkit suddenly squealed at her siblings, bounding over to a green bush by an opening in the hole. Ravenkit hesitated, before running over to Fernkit, an crouching down beside her.
"What are we doing?" Ravenkit asked as Pinekit sat down beside her.
"SHHHH." Fernkit growled, "The Medicine cats are coming out of the den."
Ravenkit flattened her ears, and trained her new blue eyes over to where the den was, and blinked as she saw two cats exit the den, bundles of leaves in their jaws.
"How did you know that?" Ravenkit whispered to Fernkit.
Fernkit raised her head proudly, "I know every cat in the clan by scent. It's a super special skill that I have."
"Don't listen to her." Pinekit meowed kindly to Ravenkit "Shes just been smelling longer than you have."
Fernkit wrinkled her nose at her brother, "But it's a skill." She muttered, before flicking her tail. "Whatever."
Pinekit crouched down to Ravenkits height, "Medicine cats are healers." He meowed to Ravenkit, obviously seeing her interest. "They can help us feel better if we get sick."
Ravenkit wrinkled her nose, the sudden sweet scent of what she assumed to be- Medicine- tickled her nose.
Fernkit jumped up from her position, "Nows our chance!" She squealed, "Let's go into the-"
"Not so fast, squirt."
Ravenkit jumped at the sudden voice behind her, and whirled around to see a large pale she-cat staring at the three kits.
"How many times have I told you to NOT leave the nursery?" The she-cat growled, "You're lucky I got back here in time."
Fernkit bowed her head in shame, "Sorry mama." She squeaked.
Mama sighed, and shifted her eyes over to Pinekit. "You to?" She meowed. "I expected more from you, Pinekit. I am very disappointed."
Pinekit crouched down, his eyes glued onto his paws. "Yes mama."
Ravenkit flattened her ears as Mamas eyes moved over to her spot, but to her confusion, Mamas eyes went wide.
"Ravenkit!" She meowed, "You've opened your eyes!"
She stared at her other two kittens, "When did Ravenkit open her eyes?"
Pinekit smiled smugly at his sister, "She pushed me ontop of Ravenkit." He declared. Fernkit hissed, "Did NOT!!!" She howled,
"Did TO."
"I didnnnntt!"
"Enough." Mama sighed. "It doesn't matter." She crouched down to meet Ravenkits eyes with her own, "Let's get you back to the nursery, Sweet heart."
Ravenkit nodded, she would ask about the medicine cats later. Beside her, Pinekit rose to his paws, and bolted back to the nursery. Fernkit snorted, walking up to Ravenkit, her tabby fur bristled. "I was going to cuff him." She growled. Flexing her large paws. "But he got away."
Mama sighed, smiling tightly. "Come on." She meowed. "Let's just go back for a nap."
Fernkit nodded, and began to trot back to the nursery, her tail dragging across the ground. Mamas worried eyes followed her to the den.
