Anomaly? Writing fluff? This is short, and probably not that good, but it was pure self indulgence and I had to share it. Enjoy!
Bakugou has a pet tarantula. Yep. A tarantula. Her name is Queen Explosion Murder, or "Queenie". Bakugou smuggled her into the dorms a little after moving in, and to this day, nobody else but his parents, Kirishima, and Deku know of her existence. Kirishima is the only one who knows she's there though. He loves her almost as much as the hothead himself does, and honestly, Bakugou hasn't had a better friend than her. Well, Kirishima is his best HUMAN friend, and boyfriend, but he doesn't count. Even though Queenie can't talk, she always seems to know what to say. She's been Bakugou's eight shoulders to cry on when times are tough, the one who will listen when he has something to rant about, and as of late, the best damn wing-woman a guy could ask for. The moment Kirishima saw her, it brought he and Bakugou even closer together. Look, if you saw it, you'd believe it too. Long story short, she's the best, and Bakugou always seems happier around her, and after he brought her, he's been more mellow and calm in the mornings...but today is a little...different.
Kirishima was the first one to notice. That morning, he was the one to knock on Bakugou's door to go to school instead of the other way around. Usually his boyfriend was the one complaining that he was going too slow, but this morning, when the redhead asked through the door if he was ready, he received a mere 'Yeah, yeah, just go without me', and nothing more. Then, strangest of all, he didn't come to class. He never misses class unless he's really sick. This made him worried, and he ended up getting permission to go back to the dorms for the rest of the day after lunch. Once he got back with a bowl of chicken soup in hand, he changes into his regular clothes and goes next door to his boyfriend's room. He knocks softly.
"Hey, Katsuki? Can I come in?" No response. "You weren't in class today. Are you not feeling well? I brought soup..." Still no response, but he hears shuffling, and then the click of the door lock. He smiles softly and waits a few seconds before coming in. The curtains are drawn, and the room is only illuminated by the glow of Bakugou's desk lamp.
Kirishima comes in and softly closes the door, then goes to set the soup down on the desk.
"Hey Love, is everything ok? ...Katsuki?" Once again, he doesn't get a response. He looks around and spots his boyfriend on the bed. His heart sinks at the sight of him. He's sitting on the bed, hugging his knees to his chest with his chin nestled into a pillow. As he approaches the bed, he notices that his eyes are red and puffy from crying, and he's staring at-...Queenie's terrarium. He seats himself on the bed next to Bakugou, bringing a hand up to rub his back.
"Oh, Katsuki...I'm so sorry..." he says softly. Before he can say anything else, the weight on the bed shifts as Bakugou turns to face him and wrap his arms around his neck.
"Woah-...aw Katsuki...c'mere," Kirishima hums, pulling Bakugou into his lap and wrapping his arms around him. The blonde nuzzles his face into Kirishima's neck to hide the tears welling up in his eyes. He sniffs before speaking, his voice barely above a whisper.
"...you fucking tell anyone...and you're dead..." Kirishima chuckles softly, bringing a hand up to cup the back of his boyfriend's head.
"Not a word," he says reassuringly, turning his head to kiss Bakugou's temple. "I'm here baby...I'm here."
This simple action, this simple act of affection is nearly enough to make the blonde melt. Eijiro does so much for him and...he really doesn't deserve him. He's so grateful that someone as sweet and kind as Eijiro Kirishima loves an asshole like him. All of these emotions combining with the grief of losing his other best friend are what make him let go, and Kirishima is there. Kirishima is there as he cries, holding him, comforting him, letting him grieve and grieving with him. Once his tears are spent and he's calmed down, Kirishima kisses his head again and speaks.
"Do you want me to help lay her to rest?" he asks softly. Bakugou nods, yeah that would be nice. The two of them get up and find a box, stuffing it with tissue paper before laying Queenie inside. They take the box and some spoons from the kitchen (they couldn't find a shovel) out behind the dorm building and find a patch of earth that no one would mind being dug up, and laid Queen Explosion Murder to rest. Once they were done, they headed back inside to wash the spoons. They quietly stood side by side at the kitchen sink as they washed and rinsed their spoons, and in this moment of silence, Bakugou mumbled something that...he normally doesn't say.
Kirishima heard the mumble, but couldn't make out the words.
"Hm?" he asks, reaching for a cloth to dry the spoons. Bakugou blushes a little bit, turning off the faucet.
"I said thank you..." he says, a bit louder. Kirishima turns to him, blushing a little bit himself. It's not every day that Katsuki Bakugou thanks someone.
"For what?" he asks. Bakugou grumbles. He's not used to this kind of thing yet.
"For- fucking-...for just, being there. For...always being there," he says. Kirishima smiles, and he has to hold back a couple tears as he pulls his boyfriend into a hug. It takes a couple moments, but Bakugou hugs back.
"You're welcome, Katsuki. I love you," Kirishima says. Bakugou hides his face in his boyfriend's shoulder, mumbling again.
"Fucking...you too..."
"Hm?" Bakugou grumbles again and pulls back. He takes his shitty haired boyfriend's face in his hands and pulls him into a kiss. After the slight moment of shock, Kirishima kisses back.
After a few seconds, they pull away. Bakugou's cheeks are flushed a beautiful pink that makes Kirishima's heart flutter. He turns his head to the side to try and hide his blush.
"I said I fucking love you too..." he huffs. Kirishima smiles and turns his head to face him again, leaning in to kiss his forehead.
"Have you eaten anything today, Love?" he asks. Bakugou shakes his head, leaning into Kirishima's touch. The redhead frowns. He doesn't like that he hasn't been taking care of himself.
"Let's make you something to eat, ok? Then we can go lay down if you want," he says. Bakugou looks back up at him. 'Fucking hell...' He doesn't deserve this adorable idiot.
"Fine." With that, the two get to work. Bakugou refuses to let this idiot cook by himself. Kirishima turns on some music while they cook, singing and dancing along with it and pulling his boyfriend into the mix. Bakugou won't admit it, but this is just what he needed. Kirishima always knows just what to do, what to say...he's all he needs.
He's the shoulder he can cry on, the ears that will listen, the hands that care, the heart that loves...yeah, it's fucking cheesy, but...he's perfect. He's absolutely perfect for him. He's no Queen Explosion Murder, but he's pretty damn close. Once they finish eating, they head upstairs and into Bakugou's bed. They could honestly stay like that forever. Bakugou nestled up to Kirishima's chest, arms wrapped around each other, legs entwined as if to tie their bodies in a knot...but eventually Kaminari brought the homework for that day, thus ending their cuddle session. Nevertheless, the day wasn't ruined. For the next couple of days, Bakugou is mellow, still sad about the death of Queenie, but he's also been more cuddly. Kirishima isn't complaining. He never will. The rest of the class seems to notice, and they're all happy to see that Bakugou has someone that makes him happy. Bakugou's glad too. He's really glad he has that shitty haired idiot as the love of his life.
Yeah I had a bit of trouble coming up with an ending, but çest la vie right?
