"He's so beautiful." I awed.
"Baby, you've been staring at him for two and a half hours. You need to get ready." Tom told me, chuckling.
"I can't help it. How have we created such a perfect little human?"
"Our son gets his good looks from you." Tom complimented.
"Don't be silly. It's all you."
"Come on, I'm sure my mum can handle looking after him for a few hours while we have our first date night since he's been born." Tom reassured me.
"Don't you think it's too soon? It's only been three weeks." I whinged.
Tom shook his head, "It will be fine. We won't be long."
I stared at my gorgeous son's face; his eyes closed with long perfect eyelashes, his little button nose and tiny lips. He was asleep in his small crib next to our bed, breathing softly. I stroked his soft tuft of dark brown hair, being careful not to wake him.
I didn't think I could love anyone as much as I love Tom until I bought our son, Jacob Thomas Parker into the world.
Tom was perfect throughout my whole pregnancy.
From the start when we first found out and he picked me up and lifted me into the air, shouting we're pregnant. He came to every doctor's appointment and scan and waited on me the whole time.
You can imagine how bossy and protective he was though; I rolled my eyes but that's why I loved him.
And now our family was complete.
I reluctantly tore myself away from Jacob to start getting ready, "Ok, ok. I'm getting dressed now."
Tom was taking us to our favorite sky-high restaurant as I finally felt like I could function after giving birth. I had stopped bleeding and I was back in my size 8 clothes.
Kind of, I laughed to myself. I still had a little bit of belly.
My labour with Jacob had been fine, no problems at all, but of course Tom hired the best midwives in New York City. After a 13-hour labour, our son was born and I fell in love with instantly, as did Tom.
I was almost finished with my makeup when we heard a soft knock at the door.
"Come in." Tom called, softly.
Tom's mum, Stephanie, popped her head around the door, "Babysitter and Nana present." She smiled and entered the room.
Tom kissed her cheek softly, "Evening, Mother. We are running slightly late. This one couldn't stop staring at him again." Tom nodded in my direction, laughing.
"I hardly blame her! Hi Sophie." Stephanie agreed, coming over to hug me warmly. "And there's my beautiful grandson!" she gushed, heading over to his crib quietly.
"Hi darling, Nana is here to take care of you, yes I am." Stephanie babbled in a baby voice.
Tom's parents and mine had both been wonderful with Jacob and helping us out while we were sleep deprived. I couldn't wish for better grandparents.
I smiled, "I'm ready now anyway."
I was wearing a floor length silver dress with a low back that clung to my curves perfectly.
"You look breath-taking, Mrs. Parker." Tom kissed my forehead softly.
Stephanie smiled at the both of us, "Go on you two and enjoy yourselves. I have done this twice before, you know."
