Tom moved his stuff back home the next day and I was overjoyed to have my husband home.
Jacob was happier too to see his dad more during the day. Everything was falling back into place. The first thing I did when he moved back home was delete Tristan's phone number and email from my phone. I promised myself that I would never speak to him again and I was going to stick to that promise. I never wanted to do anything to jeopardize our marriage again.
A few weeks went past smoothly.
Tom and I were getting back into our routine and were happier than ever. I think the break made us realise how much we loved each other in the first place.
My mobile phone ringing bought me out of my thoughts of Tom. I picked it up off my office desk and clicked accept, "Hello?"
"Hey, it's me." Zoe's voice came through the phone.
"Zoe, hi. How are you?"
"I'm ok. How is everything with you and Tom now since he moved back home?"
"Perfect. I'm still working hard on gaining his trust back, but we are happy. I'm so glad he decided to give me another chance."
"Well, he would have been a complete idiot not to. Anyway, I have some news."
"Oh?"
"Will and I have set a date for the wedding."
"Oh, that's brilliant! When is it?"
"In two months."
"Wow, that soon?"
"We have almost sorted everything out now. I'm a hard worker." Zoe laughed down the phone. "But I also want to ask... will you be my maid of honour?"
"I would love to, Zo! Thank you so much for asking me."
"You're my best friend. I wouldn't ask anyone else. I think Will is going to ask Tom to be his best man."
"How lovely. I still can't believe my best friend and my brother are getting married. It's amazing."
"I know, me too. I better go anyway; I've got a meeting with the cake maker. I will send you a list of jobs, maid of honour. Love ya!"
"Love you too." I smiled and hung up.
Wow two months. I never expected Zoe to even think about marriage, let alone go through with it. She's always been such a free spirit and a little... erm... promiscuous. I laughed to myself. I'm so glad she's found someone to settle down with. And she couldn't have picked a better guy than my brother.
The next two months went by in a flurry of duties and helping Zoe to get everything ready for her big day.
The big day had arrived, and I got to Zoe's house to hear banging music and I laughed to myself.
Typical Zoe, acting like she's having a party, on the morning of her wedding.
I didn't bother knocking on the front door, I just walked straight in to see Zoe and her mum applying her make-up.
"Hey Zo. Hi Janet!" I greeted them both, shouting slightly over the loud music.
"Hi, Sophie, darling, I haven't seen you for ages. How are you?" Janet replied, getting up to embrace me.
"I'm much better. Tom and I are doing good."
"And how's that gorgeous son of yours?"
