Six Months Later

"Everything is fine with your scan, Mr Parker. Your remaining kidney is in good health and functioning perfectly well on its own. Do you have any concerns?" The Doctor asked Tom.

Tom shook his head, "No, everything has been fine." He answered, holding my hand in his.

"Great news. Let me know if you have any of the symptoms mentioned in the leaflet that I gave you."

"Thanks, Doc." Tom smiled, before standing up and leading me out of the room.

It had been six months since Tanya had stabbed Tom, but he recovered well, and we continued to be a strong family. Tanya was serving six years in prison and I was glad to be rid of her out of our lives so that we could move on.

Jacob was almost two years old and was thriving. His babbles and words were now forming proper sentences and we couldn't get him to shut up sometimes. I was glad that Tom and I were in a really good place again after everything that had happened, and we were a proper family again.

I was looking forward to a drama free life now. Josh was dead. Tanya was locked up. Everything was ok. As we got into the car, my stomach cramped, and I pressed my hand to my abdomen.

"Are you ok?" Tom asked, as he noticed me grimace.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I'm probably due on my period or something." I muttered as the pain subsided.

Tom rolled his eyes, "Oh great!" He hated it when I was on my period because that meant no sex for 5 days, I laughed to myself.

Tom drove me to my office and gave me a passionate kiss before I got out of the car, "See you tonight, baby."

"Love you."

"Love you too." He replied, before I got out of the car and he drove to his own office.

My stomach cramped again as I got to my office door and Kat saw the look on my face, "Are you ok, Sophie? You look a little pale."

I nodded, "I'm fine. Just abit of stomach ache." I smiled, heading into my office and sitting down.

Kat placed a cup of tea on my desk and I got on with my work.

"Can I get you anything?" Kat asked at lunchtime, popping her head around the door.

"Could you get me a sandwich and a coffee please, Kat?" I requested.

"Sure thing."

Kat returned half an hour later with a chicken salad sandwich and a black coffee for me. The strong coffee invaded my nostrils and I instantly felt sick.

"Are you sure you don't want to go home, Soph? You seem very peaky and pale." Kat asked me, concerned.

I shook my head, "I've got too much work to catch on." I replied, putting the coffee aside and taking a bite out of my sandwich.

I swallowed it precariously, worrying about whether I was goin to throw up, but I managed to keep some small bites down.

I was relieved when it was finally home time. I headed down to the creche to pick up Jacob. It wouldn't be long before he started nursery now and my heart panged. He was growing up so fast and I hated the thought of him being away from me.

Jacob's eyes lit up when he saw me enter the creche and he immediately outstretched his arms and toddled towards me. I scooped him up in my arms and buried his face with my kisses.
