Six months later
Six months had passed. Everything was different now.
We had remodelled and decorated the house and moved Jacob's nursery to the other room next to our bedroom instead. I was no longer scared or anxious. I knew I was safe.
Jacob had just turned a year old and we held a beautiful garden party for him in our back garden complete with; a bouncy castle, a swimming pool, balloons, streamers, so much food, a cake with his favorite cartoon character on it, which at the moment is Peppa Pig.
Don't even get me started on how annoying it was, I laughed to myself.
And of course, all our family and friends came loaded with gifts and smiles for the happy little birthday boy.
I had also just finished building my new publishing company 'SP Publishers' and was creating a good portfolio and client base. My new office was right down the street from Tom's so he could check up on me and Jacob easily. I built the creche room and hired the most expensive, most qualified childminders to take care of him and my employee's kids. My security was also as tight as it could be.
I, of course, bought Kat with me to be my assistant again. Archie wasn't very pleased that I had branched out on my own, but Tanya was happy to see me go. Tristan on the other hand was very upset. He still had the thought process that me and him might finally be together one day, but he couldn't be further from the truth.
Everything was perfect again. I could carry on living my life.
"Hey, Mrs. CEO." Tom greeted me as he came through the door that evening.
I winked at him cheekily, "That sounds good."
"I can't believe all you have achieved in the last six months. I'm so proud of you." Tom kissed my cheek as he sat down with Jacob and me in the kitchen.
"Watch this." I said to Tom, then turned to Jacob. "Jacob, who did we miss today? Did we miss Dada?"
"Dada." Jacob babbled.
"Oh, son, I missed you too and your first word. When did he say that?"
"Earlier at lunch time when I went to check on him."
"He's growing up too fast." Tom stated. "How was your first week at your new company, baby?" he asked me.
"Brilliant. I've already signed up so many authors. I guess word of my good work has gotten around." I replied.
"Great. This calls for a celebration."
We put Jacob to bed together and then snuggled in the cinema room with some champagne, chocolates and a film.
This was heaven. Definitely what I needed after a busy week of working for myself.
"I'm so proud of you, Soph." Tom told me as the film started.
I snuggled into his arm and smiled up at him, "Thank you. I couldn't have done it without you."
I was so glad we were in a good place right now and the last six months were behind us.
"It's nice to sit and do nothing for a change."
"Shh, I can't hear the movie." I giggled at him.
"Alright, bossy."
As the movie credits rolled up, I leant over to put my glass down on the table and turned to Tom, who stroked my cheek softly. I sat up properly and my legs on either side of his, so I was sitting astride him. I kissed him softly on the lips and he moaned against my lips in response.
