"So I'm confused, he's confused and she's still in bed with the hot dog and I'm holding the bowl of guacamole..."
It had been one excruciatingly long hour since you had first proposed to make a deal with Beetlejuice. He did begrudgingly explain how the Netherworld worked, without going much into detail to your disappointment.
Then when you'd asked him if he could possibly open up the gateway for you promising you'd do him a favor, he thought about your offer for 5 seconds before giving a simple response of "Yeah not falling for that again" which kind of confused you.
And now you have no idea on how to make him go away and the dusty old book isn't giving you any clues either.
He's just been floating around your room telling you crazy stories, most of which you were certain had to be fake.
As he finished up his tenth story you tried acting as if you were uninterested but your hidden smile and muffled laughter deceived you.
He grinned at you obviously pleased with himself and opened his mouth to say something else before the ring of your phone cut him off. You noticed how his expression turned mischievous as you both stared back and forth at each other and your phone when realization hit you and you stood up quickly. As if you read each other's minds you both raced towards the phone but you were just a little faster.
HA I WON! You happily grinned at him.
You looked down at the caller ID while Beetlejuice gave an annoyed groan in the background. Without warning he placed his chin on your shoulder making you jump unexpectedly. You tried to shake him off but he wouldn't budge. He was obviously not going to let you take this call in peace.
That nosy little bitch. You outwardly groaned in defeat before finally answering. A monotone voice spoke up in the other end.
"He's behind you."
"..."
"..."
"Hey mom,"
Wow how ironic. You silently laughed to yourself.
A small chuckle rang on the other end as you felt Beetlejuice nudge you, confusion painted on his face, you shrugged him off.
"That used to scare you so much before. How are you holding up Spider, still haven't burned down the house with your horrible cooking right?" she said teasingly.
Beetlejuice floated in front of you, smirking as he mouthed "Spider?" Quietly you shushed him before turning your attention back.
"Come on my cooking isn't even that bad I can make spaghetti!"
"That's the only thing you know how to make y/n."
She doesn't have to call me out like that. In an attempt to change the topic you asked how she was doing.
"Well, it took a lot of scheduling and rescheduling but I finally got an interview for tomorrow morning. Hopefully everything turns out fine and I'll be able to come home soon. I feel dead on my feet just running in and out of that office and making calls all day" she let out a sigh "I just want to know what I'm working with. Oh, before I forget I deposited some money to your account, for groceries and actual edible food."
You rolled your eyes, "Ha ha... but seriously mom that's great news. But..." you looked up towards Beetlejuice who was just staring at you unblinkingly; he kind of looked like an overexcited puppy, and you suddenly found yourself feeling a little flustered "um... you can take your time don't worry. There's no rush to get home."
"Yeah, you're right but that still doesn't mean I don't miss it. All this stress has become my personal bitch, not to mention that if I do get the job I dunno if we'll have to move back New York or if I can work from home or what, guess that'll just be another problem for the future. I just hope everything goes well with the interview."
Damn. You hadn't thought about that, would you have to go back to New York?
"Don't overwork yourself mom you're going to do great. I'm rooting for you all the way" you said.
"Thanks y/n. Okay I'm going to get some things ready for tomorrow then. I love you my Spider, get a good night's sleep!"
"You too, byeeee."
You flopped back unto the bed when a certain demon made his way towards you. You were mentally exhausted as you took a deep breath in, your limbs falling around you as you stared up at the ceiling deep in thought.
You felt the bed sink down as Beetlejuice sat tensely next to you. His eyes scanned the ceiling as if he was trying to search for whatever you were looking at.
You turned to him and found yourself locking your eyes with his. You both stared unblinkingly in silence in a way that any other normal person would have logically looked away by now.
But you're a dumbass.
"So is this when we fuck?"
Heat rushed into your face as you jumped up in shock.
"Wha- NO! No, no, no, no, no, no! Why would you say that?"
"Probs cause you've been staring at me with bedroom eyes for the last 5 minutes", he teased.
You could feel a fire burn in your chest only that it wasn't from embarrassment.
"Listen up Beetle-bitch, for the past hour and a half I've tried my best to be nice and polite cause my mom didn't raise an asshole but I've had it up to here with your bullshit. You're here because I fucked up and summoned you by accident and now you won't leave. You want me to say your name 3 times to become all powerful and shit, well it ain't gonna happen until you take me to the Netherworld yourself. You want me to do you a favor well do me one too, that's how favors work. So please just help me out because I just want to see my dad again. Please."
You spoke quick and harsh trying to pour your feelings out. You really just wanted to see your dad, you wanted to have a chance to be able to hug him and tell him goodbye. You don't know what you'll do if Mr. Ratman disagrees. What would be the point?
You studied Beetlejuice as he stared at you unable to speak. You'd obviously said something that affected him greatly. And... are those tears in his eyes? Beetlejuice looked lost in his mind as if trying to piece together a response. Finally he composed himself and gave you his signature grin.
"Okay Spi you've got yourself a deal." With a wave of his hand a piece of chalk appeared as he moved towards the wall.
"Wait... Spi? What's that?" you said.
"Oh, it's short for Spider. Nickname for the nickname." He made his way towards the wall where, taking his chalk, he drew a lopsided door. Backing up he took his hand and knocked three times.
A green bright light traced the door cutting it out of the wall. The door opened up towards the room as brighter green light illuminated every corner it touched and white fog eerily poured out.
Beetlejuice walked back to you were where he proceeded to wrap an arm around your shoulders and pushed you along towards the glowing void in your wall.
"Well new bestie don't say I didn't warn you!"
With maniacal laughter he pushed you in with him as you finally entered the Netherworld.
