It was time for half-time, Hope was out of the game for the Stallions with a twisted ankle so they needed a new QB. It wasn't until Landon also disappeared making the team all look over to me, when I wasn't having any of this.
I sucked at football, let alone at QB and having to go up against Ethan was the worst of it all. Every time I would get the ball, he was always there one step ahead of me making me frustrated with myself if anything.
"I'm done with this." I said, looking at the group.
"Come on, you've got this." Kaleb says and I glared at him.
"That boy is making a fool out of me and I hate that, so unless you've got a better idea. Enlighten me."
"I do." MG says and I looked to see him nodding over to where Lizzie was sitting. I nodded and we walked over to her, but she wasn't having any of it.
"Don't even bother."
"Please, Lizzie. You're the best QB this school has ever seen." MG says, pleading her but she looks at us with a bored look.
"No."
"Lizzie, please." I said, pouting, "Please do this, and I swear I'll do anything for you."
"Fine. And when I come to collect, there better be no questions asked." Lizzie says, standing up and I smirked.
"At your service, m'lady." I said, and she smiles before we make our way back over to the team.
"Okay, since you guys can't seem to stop Captain America or not fumble a kick off, our lead is bleeding him like a stuck pig. But fear not, I'm super absorbent."
"Wow, the hell's that supposed to mean?" Kaleb deadpans, giving Lizzie a look.
"Means we're playing this game to win." I said, smirking as I looked at everyone. Lizzie looks over her shoulder a quick second before telling us what and where to go.
"What do I do?" A guy on the team asked, I think his name is Walter.
"You go long, Wayne. Real long."
"It's Wayde, actually." He corrects Lizzie and I frowned.
"Are you sure?" I asked, frowning as I got distracted.
"Whatever, go long." Lizzie says, breaking up the conversation before putting her hand in the middle followed by everyone, "Ready? Break!"
We then scatter going to our different positions, I had taken my spot on the inside wing which was a better play for me to be in. The referee blows the whistle and Lizzie pretends to hand the ball to Kaleb, tricking everyone as she threw it over to Josie who was ready.
We all cheered for her as she goes to catch the ball, not before it was intercepted by Ethan who jumps high to grab it. He catches it before starting to run to the other end and happens to make his beeline towards me.
I managed to reach him and tackle him to the ground, pushing down on his chest as I push the hair away from my face. Ethan looks at me giving me a smirk, before tilting his head.
"Just couldn't wait to get on top of me, huh?" He says and I snorted, getting up holding out my hand as he gracefully took it to get to his feet.
"If anything you ran towards me on purpose."
"Maybe I did." Ethan says and I chuckled, before I could make a smart comment my smile drops. I felt something in my stomach drop, knowing who it was by just the feels.
Landon.
"I-I need to go." I said, and I ran off without another word to anyone. I hear people calling out my name but I needed to get to Landon and quick.
"Landon? Landon!" I yelled out and just as I stopped to listen in, I hear a growl making me look to where it came from. I kept running, ended up facing a big monster with red glowing eyes and there stood Landon, with a branch.
"What the hell?" I said, catching his attention.
"Great of you to show up now." Landon says and I looked at him.
"Sorry I was busy in a game of football, how was I supposed to tell the difference between my elevated heart rates?" I said to him and I hear another growl making me look to see a wolf coming out of nowhere to attack the beast.
I held my hands out just about to step in when an arrow from behind it gets lodged into its back. It moves slightly away and I see Rafael standing there, Landon's brother who I recognised from photos Landon's showed me.
"Raf..." Landon says, looking in surprise.
"It's not done!" Rafael shouts and I felt my eyes glow.
I jumped and kicking the monster in the face, making it fall to its stomach making me grab the arrow out. Just as it stands to swing at me, I ducked and I shoved the arrow in through it's mouth. It lets out a pained cry before collapsing to the ground, dying.
Soon as that was over, Landon and Rafael embrace each other feeling grateful to have one another. I was more so busy on who the wolf was, I looked watching it transform back and getting quiet the shock to see it was Hope. Before I could think more, the boys voice cuts me out of my thoughts.
"I guess I have you to thank as well." Rafael says and I looked at him staring at me making me smile. I wasn't going to lie, he was attractive but I felt like I knew him.
"Raf, this is my best friend Charmeine. Charm, this is my brother Rafael." Landon says, smirking as he saw us looking at each other.
"It's great to finally meet you, even though it feels like we've met before." I said, making him chuckle.
"Yeah, I'm getting that weird feeling too." He says, chuckling, "Thank you for looking after my brother for me. I know he's a lot."
"It's been my pleasure, but maybe now you're back he can nerd out on you." I said, making Raf laugh as Landon gives me a look.
"That was just cold." Landon says and I chuckled.
"Let's get back, I've had enough of the woods for tonight."
"Try all summer." Rafael says making us all laugh, walking back towards the school.
