"Lewis!"

Louis groaned into the pillow at the sound of his sisters piercing voice. I probably slept in too late again.

Louis sighed softly and quickly got out of bed, yelling out 'coming.' He really hoped he wouldn't get hurt today. His sister likes to verbally abuse him but if his mother came home drunk or his father came him high, well, Louis wasn't safe.

He quickly changed out of his pajamas and slipped a random t-shirt on with a pair of jeans and ran down the hall to where his family was.

"Don't you know how to wake yourself up?" His father grunted as he put his coat on. Louis simply shrugged and walked into the kitchen to see his mother getting out bowls of cereal, Lottie eating a couple Oreos.

"Can I have some?" The small boy looked over to where Lottie was sitting at the table and she looked at him with a glare on her face.

"Buy your own, faggot."

Louis winced at the harsh word, knowing that it meant something rude but he didn't dare ask the meaning of it. He would get called stupid and be told to look it up on the internet. But how could he do that when he couldn't spell or read?

"Are one of those bowls for me?" Louis mumbled, watching Jay pour cookie crisps into a bowl. She looked over at Louis and scoffed.

"You're six years old. You can get your own breakfast." She then walked out of the kitchen with the two bowls, leaving Louis with a deep frown on his face. How could his own mother screw up his age? Oh right, she doesn't care about him. He should've known.

"I'm going for a walk." Louis later announced after drinking a glass of milk. Lottie was still at the table, texting away on her phone before looking up at her brother.

"Hold on Lou, I'm looking for a fuck to give," she paused for a moment. "I found none." The brat rolled her eyes and went back to her phone.

The young boy sighed sadly as he walked to the closet to grab a lightweight coat. He's hardly been outside so he's praying that he doesn't get lost.

Before he walked out the door, he heard his sister call from the kitchen.

"Don't get jumped, you freak."

*****

He never realized how nice walks were until today. The sky was a pure blue, with a small touch of cumulus clouds but that just made the sight up there look beautiful. The sun shined on the clouds, making them look extra fluffy and soft, as though you wanted to sleep on them. The sound of buzzing cars and clacking heels were heard as he walked into downtown London, since that's where the apartment is located at.

[A/N: Yeah I know nothing about London- or England so I'm just gonna make stuff up and hope I'm doing at least something right-]

He wouldn't admit it, but he was starting to feel a little lost with all the traffic in the street and people walking, the tall, endless rows of buildings, offices, and stores. But it was his decision to go out, so the only person to blame was himself.

But didn't feel so bad when he reached a school. It wasn't in session, since it was a Saturday but he so desperately wanted to join. He wanted to go to school and make friends and learn about interesting stuff. He had no idea why he hasn't been enrolled yet; he should've been in school years ago. Guess that proves that his parents don't actually care about him.

He sighed as a wave of sadness engulfed him and continued to walk on until he reached a building called a library.

"Li.. Li.. Br.. A.." He tried sounding it out to himself but he just couldn't figure out how to pronounce the word. He felt tears of frustration well up in his eyes as he continued to struggle.

He felt a light tap on the shoulder and the sudden touch made him jump in fear.

"Are you okay, little guy?" A deep, raspy voice asked from behind. Louis slowly up to see an extremely tall man with brown curly hair and beautiful green eyes staring down at him with a slight frown across his plump lips.

"I can't pronounce that word." Louis mumbled, looking down at his feet in shame.

"What word?" The man looked all over the place for "the word" but the only words he saw was "London Public Library."

"That one!" Louis whined and pointed at "library." The older guy looked to where he pointed at and chuckled.

"That says library, sweetie. Do you need glasses? Can you not read it because it's blurry?"

Louis deeply frowned when he asked and slowly shook his head in response. Why would it be blurry though? He can see perfectly fine, he just couldn't pronounce the word.

"I just couldn't pronounce the word. Who are you?" The smaller boy looked all the way up at the man he was talking to. He was looking down at him with a small smile on his face, and Louis thought he was a good looking guy- he wasn't gonna lie about that.

"I'm sure it's not any of your business." The man curved his lips up into a smirk which left the younger boy confused. "I'll see you later, kiddo." And the man walked off with a more friendly smile on his face, leaving Louis even more puzzled than before.

See you later?

He could then hear his sister's loud voice in his head.

"Don't you know not to talk to strangers, stupid?"

----------------------------------------------

So that's that. Later on in the story, "the man" -aka Harold if you haven't figured it out- will become a big part of Louis' life so yeah.

Does anyone like it so far? I know it's just the prologue and chapter 1 but feedback would be really appreciated because it'll help me get motivated in writing and updating because sometimes I have no motivation/inspiration to write lol. So yeah sorry for long, stupid note okay bye.
