"Mommy I'm ten years old and I haven't even been to school yet!"

"So?"

"I want to learn!"

"Learning's for morons."

"I'll be a moron if I don't learn! Please!?"

"Louis go away. I'm on the phone." His mother picked up her phone as though she got a call on it but Louis knew she was lying. He never understood why his parents were against education. Was it because they were poorly educated? Did they not like learning?
Didn't they want their son to grow up to be a fine, intelligent boy?

Guess not.

"Can I go to the library?" Louis then asked, earning a glare from his mother.

"Why the hell would you want to go to a library? You can't even read." She sneered and grabbed the remote to the tv, turning the large flat screen on and Louis sighed at the lack of knowledge. He knows he can't read but maybe he can teach himself or find a book that can help. Maybe he can just ask a librarian for tutoring. He just wanted to learn.

"Do whatever you want Louis. I honestly don't care. Now go away; I'm busy and you're bothering me." The small boy rolled his eyes at not only his mom, but the tv because although he may be young, he knew tv wasn't good for you. It just makes you less smart and act like a total idiot.

So off to the library he went.

He ended up with a large amount of animal picture books. More pictures, less words; less reading. He knew he wouldn't benefit from any of the books he picked out but every so often, he would try to sound out the words, mumbling them under his breath as his eyebrows furrowed in great confusion. When he got frustrated, he huffed and turned to the next page, basically giving up.
No one seemed to really notice the struggling boy, since people were looking around for a good book, or doing who-knows-what on the computer. The students from after school who were doing their homework were so absorbed in the work, that they didn't even notice. All but one person.

The man had been watching him for quite some time now. Not only was he feeling bad for the ten year old, but he seemed to be very interested in him. He's never seen the boy before (well he did yesterday; it just so happened to be that same boy who couldn't pronounce 'library'), which confused him since he looked to be about ten or eleven, meaning he should see him around the school he works at, but he hasn't.
And he clearly can't be homeschooled, because the boy could not pronounce easy first grade words. He so badly wanted to help him but he didn't want to come off as some creepy stranger. However, he couldn't take enough of the boys frustrated and upset expressions, so he started walking over to the table Louis was sat at.

Louis kept trying to sound out the title (which was Penguins: Such Wonderful Creatures) and didn't even notice the man who was now standing in front of him. The man who had been watching him.

The man cleared his throat, which caused Louis to look up.

"Hi." Was all the stranger said.

"Hello..?" Louis murmured softly as he gulped, praying to god that he wouldn't get kidnapped by this random man. It's a library, but you never know what could happen.

The older guy smiled softy and sat down next to the boy, as though he's known him for awhile. "I see that you're struggling with reading?"

Louis wasn't sure if he was supposed to answer that. He remembers the man from yesterday, the man who helped him with pronouncing library. He was easy to spot with his tall legs and extremely curly hair. But he was a complete stranger, sitting next to Louis and asking if he's having reading problems. Maybe he should just go before he gets molested or something-
