Dreams

Dreams are highly valued.
Dreamers are admired as the ultimate person.
Many wish to be like them,
yet few follow their own dreams.

What is a dream exactly,
a future goal we work towards?
We can imagine many things we want to be,
most of which will not come true.

Goals must have achievable ends!
Why gamble for what is uncertain?
The road is unclear,
or does not exist.
Better to stick to the road most traveled,
where the destination is clear.

What many don't consider,
is what looks clear at the moment,
may not always be the case.

Hardships enter everyone's life.
Roads erode from the seasons,
roads become muddy from the weather,
and there is the dreaded possibility,
roads get buried in an avalanche.
Now where do you go?

Many travel life with set plans,
but isn't this as foolish as the dreamer's gamble?
Because of this expectation,
even a small bump in the road,
will make you lash out,
because you are not ready for it.

Roads makes life more solid than it appears.
If life's as thick as a forest,
you are at the mercy of where they go.
Life is more like an ocean than a forest of roads,
where waves splash to and fro.

Who is in control?
Are we at the mercy of life's shifting tides,
or can we swim against the current to control our destiny?
With it or against it, both struggle against the tide.
To truly master your life, you must ride the waves.

Waves are the happiness within you.
A happiness of joy and love,
that feels right and true to yourself.
That truth is there in everyone.
With it all things are possible.

Some know it as a calling in their heart.
For it is the call of nature,
which is followed by the animals and trees.
It has watched over the earth for ages.
It can watch over you as well.

Mankind has left nature long ago,
because we believe in the plans we create.
But if those plans are not aligned with nature,
their disharmony will lead to their downfall.
No matter how sturdy the path,
nature erodes it away in time.
No matter how high the land,
all things bow to the tide.

Trust where the current flows.
Its call is there within you.

Some waves may appear to follow the crowd,
but they actually serve your own happiness,
and would flow there whether the crowds followed or not.
You'll notice when an obstacle obstructs your path,
you will find your way around.
Don't rely on roads to guide you.
You know exactly where you're going.

When a wave leads down a road less traveled,
follow where your heart takes you,
for the road less traveled is not a painful one.
You bring pain to it by having expectations.
Set plans breed disappointment.
Your reward is not where the road leads you.
The reward is the work itself.

When you encounter limitations,
don't demand them away,
don't let frustration consume you,
don't allow bitterness to enter your heart.

As a river flows,
water seeps between the cracks.
It feels for the pull of gravity,
and follows where it can flow.
Its path might currently be limited,
but all rivers lead to the ocean.

Trust where the river takes you,
and you won't be lost again.

The current is constantly changing,
so you must be vigilant now.
A river can be artificially blocked,
when plans get in the way of your happiness,
when you let others define your path,
when you take truths to be self-evident,
that are merely figments of your imagination.
You'll make sacrifices for your happiness now,
and become enslaved by your own environment.

Whenever you do anything,
ask yourself these questions.
Is the goal I'm working towards,
worth the suffering I'm experiencing now?
Is it worth the suffering I'm causing for others?
Could there be another way?

What makes something worthwhile?
True happiness doesn't mind where it goes.
Even if you're poor, homeless, ruined, alone,
in your heart you are truly free.

Roads are an invention of our minds.
Don't be afraid to veer off,
even if others say it is impossible.
Follow where happiness takes you,
and watch as the trees recede,
the mountains pass,
the obstacles wash away.

This is how true dreams are made.

Although this is more than a dream,
it is a reality within you.
If you open yourself to happiness,
happiness will open itself to you,
and you will do the impossible.

Not all dreamers are famous or revered,
but you will know when you find yours,
when you wish for nothing less.

If you stay true to your waves,
and don't let roads define you,
then what you want,
and what life wants,
become one.
