*Celeste's POV*
I pondered Charvelle's advice a while longer, trying to figure out what I was going to do.
Finally I decided to do what I was assigned to, protect Abigail. And if it means Kuza gets hurt, I'll have to find a way to cope.
I focused on Abigail, and to my surprise, I felt a pull to Earth. I followed it, only to find that I was in Abigail's house.
More specifically, I was standing at her bedside, while she was asleep. Confused, I awoke her.
She growled and slapped at me for a moment, then realized there was someone in her room.
In less than two seconds I was against the wall with a blade to my throat, and Abigail looked furious.
"Abigail, put the blade down." I said calmly. She studied me for a few seconds before doing as she was told.
"You didn't save me." she said angrily, "You were supposed to save me and you didn't. Why didn't you save me?"
I couldn't tell her why. I couldn't tell her I didn't save her because I was falling for the Demon that took her.
"I failed, but you are now safe." I told her, "That is all that matters." she laughed harshly before lifting her sleeve.
"Does this look safe to you?!" she screamed.
There was a large handprint on her arm, burnt into her skin. I've only seen an Angel leave such a mark, and I'm the only Angel assigned to her.
Who left that there?
"How did you get that?" I questioned, lightly running my fingers over the handprint.
I waved a hand over it to erase it as she answered, "The Demon that took me. He grabbed me away from the girl and brought me here. He's stuck in the living room."
Kuza's here?
And he saved Abigail?
"The Demon, is it the one we saw when we met?" I asked, and she nodded as she studied the area where the burn had been.
I wrapped an arm around her and pulled her into the living room. Kuza was sitting on the floor toying with a loose strand on the bottom of his jeans, a Devil's Trap on the floor.
He looked up when Abigail and I walked in. "Celeste!" he exclaimed, jumping to his feet.
"Hush. You will answer my questions and nothing more." I tried to sound firm and authoritative, but my voice shook despite my efforts.
He looked incredibly confused, but remained silent. "Did you save Abigail from Jalex?"
"Yeah, because I-" "Cork it shitface!" Abigail screamed at him. Kuza and I both looked at her with surprise, and she exclaimed, "What?!"
I shook my head and turned back to Kuza. "Did you heal her?" I asked.
"Yes."
"Did you leave the handprint on her?"
"Yes."
"How?"
"I don't know."
I frowned. "You don't?"
"I must've gripped her too tight."
Just then, another Angel appeared. Like me, she has white hair, blue eyes, pale skin, and an all white outfit. Her name is Kellic.
"Celeste, you have not answered your summons." Kellic spat at me, ignoring the Mortal and Demon in the room.
I raised an eyebrow. "I was never called, how would I answer?" Kellic is a higher level Angel than I am, but still answers to Destiel.
This time she was the confused one. "You did not hear yourself be summoned by Destiel and I both?"
"Uh hello?" Kuza interrupted. Kellic spun around to face him. "No one allowed you to speak, creature." she hissed.
"He saved Abigail." I argued, "Let him speak." Kellic flipped back to me. "You would dare defend one of them?!" she growled.
I stood my ground as the radiating energy from our anger caused the lights to flicker and the Windows to shake. "I would."
"Can ya not destroy my home please?" Abigail whined, and Kuza burst out laughing. "Good luck with that!"
I pulled Abigail close and whispered for her to go get a glass of water, quickly. She ran from the room as Kellic went back to lecturing me.
"You are an Angel, Celeste. Angels do not protect Demons. Angels erase Demons from existence. Or have you forgotten that?"
"I know my job." I answered through gritted teeth. "Then do it. Kill him." Kellic sneered.
Abigail came back then with the water, and I had to make my decision quickly. Ignore Kuza, or possibly lose my grace.
I dumped the water onto the Devil's Trap, resulting in Kellic screaming with rage. "Kuza, go!" I cried as Kellic lept for him.
He blinked out of sight.
*Kuza's POV*
I quickly blinked to my chambers in Hell, just before the other Angel reached me. Why did Celeste do that?
I didn't even have time to contemplate anything because I immediately realized Annifer was in my room.
Annifer is the Demon that Jalex turned Abigail over to. She's Lucifer's daughter. I fuck her too.
She has mainly black hair with some red, blue eyes, pale skin, snakebites, and a Medusa piercing.
"Where is the Mortal?" Annifer hissed, grabbing me by the throat. "On Earth." I answered flatly.
Her eyes lit up with anger. "Why did you help her escape?!" Annifer screamed. "I'm not some brainless solider.
"I don't take assorted orders from Synycky if I don't want to and I fucking didn't want to deal with it."
She smiled wickedly. "You just wanted to make the Angel happy, didn't you?" I froze completely. How did she know?
"If you want to be with her that's your business." Annifer sighed, releasing me and stepping back, "But it's better that you make her fall first."
I didn't want to admit it but she was right. It's better for a Demon and a Mortal to be together than a Demon and an Angel.
"I won't tell Daddy either." Annifer said comfortingly, "So long as we have one last hurrah."
I grinned and pushed her onto my bed, then crawled on top of her as I connected our lips.
