Children will be held responsible

Alexander POV:

It's been sixteen years since the night we banished Typhon and slayed Echidna. In that time, Allison and I, as well as Alucard and Integra, had a child. Now, we had two teenagers running around the manor. There was my daughter, who got her mothers hair and skin, our emerald green eyes, and my accent, although it is a barely there one, it shows up when she gets angry or flustered.

Then there was the Hellsing heir, who got his fathers hair and skin, but his mothers humanity and eyes, as well as his fathers love for mischief. He was also older looking by 2 years, even though they were both 16.

We had named the kids accordingly. Alucard had named his son Prince Gabriel Arthur Hellsing. Integra was touched that he had chosen her father's name for their son. I on the other hand, tried to steer clear from traditional Scottish names, only to fail due to Allison really wanting her to have one. We eventually agreed to Millie Jean, and she was the sweetest girl. She never argued, rarely raised her voice, and never had a foul mouth. She was the perfect counterbalance to having a very mischievous damphyr prince in the manor.

The two of them were inseparable. They both went to the same school, were in the same classes for the most part, and both were as close as could be. We all joke that one day they'll get married, and much to the disgust of them both.

I was sitting in the training room with the newest soldiers, going over drills, when Allison came in, and she looked pissed.

" Alex, you need to go get your daughter from school now."

" Oh no, she's my daughter. What did she do?"

" Oh, nothing much, just got into serious trouble with the headmaster for vandalizing school property!"

This alarmed me. She's never done something like this, not ever. She's a saint compared to everyone else in the manor. I sigh, and dismiss the soldiers to go run drills while I was gone. I saw that Alucard was also dressed to go out in public, his glasses secured to his face.

" I take we both know exactly who was the vandal."

" Oh no, Gabe is in much bigger trouble for something very different."

" What did he do?"

" He was caught being intimate with a fellow student in the men's locker room."

" Why do I feel like one did one thing to distract from the other?"

" My sentiments exactly. Millie is an angel, why would she do that without reason?"

We both got into the car, Walter driving us to the school. Once we walked in, both kids hadn't seen us yet. Gabe looked rather cocky about everything, while Millie was hiding her face in her hands, the silent shoulder shaking telling me she was trying so hard not to cry.

" Ah! Mr. Anderson and Mr. Hellsing. I take it you are here to collect these two?"

" What did Millie use to be a vandal and what did she do?"

" She was caught drawing with chalk on the side of the school by the cafeteria. We already had her wash it off, but not before we got a photo of what it was."

I was handed a printed out photo, and it was beautiful. A chalk drawing done on cement, and it was a spider spinning a web around a butterfly, with words that were best used to describe a forlorn heart written in Romanian.

" Millie, what possessed you to draw something this beautiful, and yet tragic?"

" I'd rather not explain with the company we have present."

Her voice was shaking, and I knew this was a conversation best left for home. Alucard was very silent, but his eyes were full of fire and wrath.

" Gabriel, you will march to the car, and we will discuss this at home. I am very upset with you, as is your mother."

Gabe casted his gaze to the floor, avoiding his father's at all costs, and I knew why. Gabriel was still part vampire, and was still considered a fledgling under Alucard, so he knew he was susceptible to the gaze that could render any insubordinate fledgling powerless.

" Before we leave, what is the punishment for both that the school is giving?"

" Well, since Millie is a first time offender, we simply had her wash it off and we would like her to write a paper on the destructive nature vandalism can cause. As for Gabriel, he's lucky the boy's father chalked it up to kids being kids, and both have been given a week out of school."

Both me and Alucard locked eyes. Boy? He had been caught with another male student?

" Gabriel Arthur, car. Now." Alucard's tone made my skin crawl, and that alone was damn near impossible. Both kids left to go to the car, and I pulled Alucard aside.

" Alucard, listen, whatever your prejudices are, remember this is the modern world. That sort of stuff is normal now, and you need to understand that. You don't need to like it, but you do need to respect your son's preferences as a father."

" I am very aware of this, Alex, it still doesn't make it right that he acted like this at school. He is a Hellsing, first and foremost. This sort of thing can cause a scandal, and it will make everyone's life back home horrible. His mother is going to be putting out fires for weeks if this gets out."

" I understand that. Let's go home and deal with this there."

Alucard nodded, and we got home in an hour. I noticed that Gabe was looking out the window, avoiding everyone in the car, but Millie was sending daggers every so often at the young prince. Once we were home, both kids took off in different directions. I followed Millie, and found her sobbing in the doorway of her room.

" Millie, love, what's wrong? Today's actions aren't the norm for you. What happened, and why did you write what you did?"

" 'Căci tu ești păianjenul regal, învârtindu-mi aripile fragile pe pânza ta veninoasă.' I feel like a stupid, fragile, weak little butterfly, and every time I see him, I feel his web trapping me more, his words are honeyed venom. Does he know what he does to me? Is he aware of how much he hurts me?! Daddy, I hate how much he makes me love him, the stupid, selfish, egomaniac!" (For you are the royal spider, spinning my fragile wings on your venomous web.)

I pulled her into me, letting her cry. I knew why she was like this. It wasn't hard to figure out who she meant.

" When did you start loving him, mo nighean?"

She dried her tears as best as she could, and her voice shook from the heavy tears she was dealing with.

" A year ago. I haven't told him because he is the Hellsing Prince and I am just a commoner here. I have no place being his girlfriend, let alone being his best friend. I know how he loves to act like he doesn't care, but I know he does, just not how I want him to. I was the one to catch him first, because we usually walk from gym to class together, and he was taking forever to leave, so when I checked on him, I heard everything. The gym teacher asked me why I was crying, and I just pointed at the locker room. I went outside to think, and saw the chalk, and just let out my anger."

" What you did was the safe and healthy thing to do, but in the future, don't do it on the side of the school, alright? I'm going to go talk to Alucard and Integra, maybe the three of us, with your mom, can figure something out."

" Alright. Thanks for listening."

" Always, Millie. Now, I believe you have a paper due to the headmaster tomorrow."

I gave her a quick hug before she shut the door, leaving me to go talk to my wife and the other parents in the manor about possibly getting the two resident teens to finally open up and be honest with each other.
