SEASON 6, EPISODE 6: License to Elongate
We stand at the end of the tunnel, waiting for Wells number... I forgot how many Wells we went through, but it seems like we go through one each year. So far, the Monitor is hiding in STAR Labs and Barry's about to die... again. The stakes are high, and I honestly could not be more terrified.
"I don't know why I'm not dying, but there's always time for a change."
"Sky, really?" Barry looks at me.
"I know we have a daughter in the future, and I love Hope. Aaand I can see why you're alarmed. I'm sorry, I'm just going through a phase."
"You and me both, Striker," Ralph says.
"These walls have an anti-vibrational forcefield which means..." Nash Wells explains.
"No fazing," Barry finishes.
"So how do we get through?" Killer Frost asks.
"I have a jackhammer in my car," Ralph volunteers.
"Um, no. Anything that comes into contact with it could cause a molecular blast and this whole thing comes down right on top of us," Nash tells them. "What I need is an artifact to open the Eternium."
"Just like that, you know what we need?" I raise an eyebrow.
"Its simple and I know where to find it."
"Okay, cool. But if its physical things that can't penetrate it, why can't I just zap through it?"
"Last resort only. Who knows what would happen when you add electricity to the mix with the added protons and what we need is photons. Its a hypothesis."
"Okay. While we're getting this artifact, who is going to be watching Chester then?"
"I will. Sadly," Killer Frost replies. "You guys will handle all of this on your own."
"Um, no, actually," Barry responds. "You all are staying here, and I've got some stuff to take care of at the CCPD."
"Great. We will be standing by on backup," I cross my arms. "I'm not at all disappointed by the way."
"I'll text you if anything comes up," Ralph offers.
"Thanks. Better than what my husband would do. God forbid I ever do anything outrageously dangerous."
"Hey, are you throwing shade at me?" Barry asks. "And first of all, I let you do dangerous stuff."
"You wouldn't even let me take a burnt piece of toast out of the toaster this morning."
"You were going to do that with your bare hands, plus I know you're fully capable of levelling this entire block."
"Wait, you can level this block?" Ralph questions. "Why didn't I know that? Good thing you aren't a villain then, Sparkler, or else we'd be in big trouble."I glance up from my phone as I climb out of the car. Opposite to me is a gala, a gala that Ralph wanted me to go to. Why? I have no clue. I adjust the strap of my red dress and get ready to walk in. My black high heeled boots clomp against the pavement and my loose waves bounce as I get checked for metal and weapons. Looking around, I admire the architecture around me and give a white toothed with crimson lipstick smile. This is a mission, for who knows what.
I caught a glimpse of Barry and Ralph going up the grand stairs and I follow them. Barry sees me and walks up quickly.
"What are you doing here?" he hisses.
I look at him wearing his tux, "hey, babe. Just thought I'd stop by."
"Okay, why on this Erath would you..." he trails off, studying my outfit. "I forgot how radiantly beautiful I look in red-- I mean, you look in red. Just..."
"Wowzers," Ralph comes up also dressed in a black and white suit. "I'd say I was speechless, but then again, my mouth doesn't have an 'off' button."
"I'll take the compliment, Ralph," I tell him. "Now, why did you want me here?"
"Wait, what? You told her to come?" Barry snaps out of his spell.
"This one here just flopped my plan to find a woman," Ralph recaps.
"I told you that I could help you with the 'single game'," I say.
"No, that's not it. Its for private investigating. I wanted you to come because you're easy to talk to and some of these men might find you charming."
"You're probably wrong, but okay, I'll do it. And speaking of gentlemen, you both look super dapper."
"Thank you, but we really need you to talk to people and see what this Meister guy is up to. Regular human identities is what we need."
"Good thing I've seen Bruce Wayne in action. Dick Grayson is good at it too."
"Don't say Dick Grayson's name again," Barry tells me. "It makes me upset."
"Jealous, might I add. I'm motivated, and now its time to stir up trouble," I smirk.
"Oh my God, she does have the makings of a villain. I should also tell you, Sky, that there are criminals hanging around," Ralph informs. "See what you can find out and report back."
"If you find anything first, call. Barry, you too, I know how you don't want to sometimes..."
"I will. Can I, um, talk to you a sec?"
"Yeah, sure." I get pulled off to the side with him, "what's up?"
"This is not a good idea. Did you at least bring your suit?"
"Yes. I've what I need, but I'm really worried about you. You're all jittery. Is this because you're going to die?"
"No, I just don't like being among criminals without using my powers, that's all."
"It'll be okay. I'll check back in ten and then we can call it a night if we don't find anything."
"One more thing. If the Speed Force has gods and goddesses, you would be one of them."
I gaze up into his green eyes, "that line actually wasn't that cheesy. I'm impressed, Thunder."
He kisses me with a smile. "See you in ten, Lightning."
"Not if I see you first. Remember, no Flash suit."
"I'll scope the place."
Why do I have the feeling he's not going to remember? I nod and stroll back down the staircase, mingling with the gala guests. It does not take very long before my alarm beeps in my handbag.
"That didn't take too long," I remark. "And it was almost social hour too." I walk back up the stairs and down at the hall to where Ralph's signal came from. Just in time to see Meister's henchmen haul off a knocked out Ralph, or I hope he's only knocked out. Its time to suit up.I ditch my dress and lipstick for a suit and mask. Following the signal down to the basement, I hear a villain plot unraveling.
"Behold, the state-of-the-art industrial laser cannon," Meister announces to a tied up Barry and Ralph. "It will shoot a deadly beam-- zap!-- through the both of you the second Central City is destroyed."
"You're going to kill millions of innocent people just to sell your weapon?" Ralph asks.
"Yeah. Enjoy the show."
"Seriously. Who write these scripts?" I mutter. I teleport over to the boys, "need some help?"
"Yes please," Ralph says. "I just got a little teary eyed. Thought we were going to die. Good thing you got here before Barry shot the button off my cuff to explode the laser. That could've ended badly."
"What do we have here? Electric-- how do you say it?" Meister asks. "It doesn't matter actually. Ultraviolet, kill her while we continue on with the auction."
Ultraviolet steps up to fight me.
"Oh, not you again. How did you escape Iron Heights?"
"How did you get past the Metahuman detectors?"
"I'm actually not entirely a Meta, but there are firsts for everything."
Ultraviolet takes a swing with her powers. I reach out a hand to absorb her energy.
"Remember? Sunshine doesn't work on me," I tell her. "I'll make you a bet about who burns out faster?"
"Flicking the button will have to work," Ralph whispers to Barry.
Before Ultraviolet and I know it, the laser machine goes off. I teleport out of the way and she makes a run for it. I come back to the scene and watch Barry and Ralph get to their feet.
"With our luck, she thinks I'm gone and you're dead. We should go when we have the upper hand," I suggest.
"Or we try our suits again," Barry replies. "And your dress. We'll go Ralph's way."
"Are you sure? Alright, lets go for it."
"I hope you can kick in your dress," Ralph says.
"Yeah, we'll need you in this," Barry tells me.
I look at him and beam. Its good to know we're on the same page.Back in my red dress, I saunter into the auditorium where the criminals and elite are bidding on weapons. I halt next to a man with his auction paddle.
"Excuse me, could I use that?" I politely ask him with a sweet smile.
"Be my guest," he hands me the paddle.
"Thank you."
"Any more bidders?" Meister calls out.
"Five-hundred and one dollars," Barry hollers. "Those are 'The Price is Right' rules."
"Ultraviolet, would you please escort Mr Barry out? But don't burn his money."
I watch Ralph sneak onto the stage and turn down the bomb's device off. Making my way down the aisle, I hold the paddle firmly.
"Mr Dibny, we meet again," Meister says.
"You've got to stop quoting James Bond, man," Ralph replies.
Barry puts his fists up, "finish him!" He crows in a Mortal Kombat voice, then he takes a bottle and breaks it over Ultraviolet's head. The crowd gets up and rushes out the doors. I walk right up the stairs to the stage and make use of the paddle. Ultraviolet flings Barry across half of Stage Right, and I come up to bat.
I kick out her knee and whack the paddle into her head. I was hoping for a knock out, instead I get my feet taken out from under me. I look up just in time to see Barry go flying and a light fixture crash on Ultraviolet, just as Ralph stops the timer on the bomb at the last second.
"That was total Mission Impossible move," I grin. "Nice job, guys. I know we did something like this not too long ago, but lets not make this a regular thing."
Author's Note:
So its been awhile since I've watched The Flash, which is why there's such a large gap between my story parts. I'm sorry guys, I feel like I let you down on this story. But on the Brightside, I'll be following up on Crisis.
If you liked this part, be sure to give it a vote! Byeeeeeeeeee!
