"okay, let's get our ice cream, then the movies?"
i ask the girl in my backseat.

"yay! i haven't been to the movies in forever."
casie smiles widely at my plans for the day.

"well what movie do you wanna see?"

"how about the grinch?"

"oh the new one? sounds good."

we're currently driving to casie's favorite ice cream shop, i promised her we'd get ice cream today.

despite the rain..

hopefully she doesn't get sick. i'd feel so bad.

"if daddy calls, we didn't get ice cream okay?"
i look at her through the rear view mirror.

"my lips are sealed."
replying she makes a zipper gesture over her mouth.

i chuckle at her response causing her to laugh with me.
"you're too cute case."

"i know." she smirks innocently.

her words make me laugh again. she's full of personality and i love it.

"uncle rook was asking about you yesterday."
she tells me while looking at the road.

"he was?"

"mhm"
she nods.

why was he asking casie about me?

"what did he say?"
i asked her curious now.

"he just asked why you don't come over."

"oh, anything else?"

"yeah, he said that when i see you to tell you, that he misses you."

"he told you that? wow."

why would he even bring casie into this mess.

like seriously, telling her to pass messages along, he needs to grow up.

"don't worry about him. i'll talk to him when we go home later."
i reassure her, so she doesn't think i'm upset at her.

"okay."

"that movie was good, i liked it."
casie smiled widely as we exited the theater.

"yeah, it was good. i still prefer the original."

"what's that?"

"you're dad has never shown you the original grinch?"
i gape at the girl who is holding my hand.

"no."
she shakes her head, causing her curls to bounce.

"oh my gosh. let's watch it when we get back to daddy's house."

"okay."

we walk through the mall, until we reach the parking garage. then i help her into her seat and get into the car myself.

"your car is pretty. i like how it's red. i love red."

"awh thanks case. i love red too."

gently starting the engine, so i can turn on the heater, i put some music on.

"can you play 27 plane bounce?"
casie asks me, leaning forward in her seat.

"yeah case."

she's referring to colson's song '27' but she calls it '27 plane bounce.'
