Lucifer to Nick (his Vessel): "[How could God let the murder of his family happen?] There are only two rational Answers Nick. Either he's sadistic or he simply doesn't care. [...] I'm angry too. That's why I wanna find him, hold him accountable for his actions. Just because he created us doesn't mean he can toy with us like play things."
There was never anything more truth said. God is both sadistic and careless or ignorant towards all the people, all their lives, their problems which he all created as long as it's irrelevant for his story. And even they do matter in his story line he doesn't really care as in sympathy or empathy. God isn't capable of these emotions. Lucifer isn't the good guy in this story either but he's held accountable for to many crimes that are not his fault. Lucifer is right about God. He has a similar position to au Michael, both of which are portrayed as villains. Coincidence? With God as the storyteller no way. The reason that these two archangels figured out God's true intentions and who God really is might be that they were created first therefore have been there the longest (after God himself of course). So they had the chance to be close to God, be directly by his side for all these eons and got to study his every move and learn from him and why he does what he does. In this particular scene Lucifer is manipulating Nick in saying yes and therefore somewhat twisting the truth, but it's still the truth.
God not only made the big antagonist in his story the opponent of Michael but also the direct opponent of himself. Michael basically ensures that Lucifer can't really get to God. For literary symmetry as Chuck likes to say this is truly gold. Creating and forming a villain who is actually right and just and has every reason for his actions, is trying to stop the real big villain: the author, the creator, God himself, is poetic from a writer's perspective, which is the only perspective God has, which is the reason why he made Lucifer the "villain" in the first place.
