"Sam are you drunk?"

"Sam are you drunk. No Eleanor. I'm American."

It took a little more work to stop Bobby from driving back to Chicago then it had calming Dean. I had to steal his keys and after hours of running around in circles in his house as well as a couple drinks later Bobby finally settled down. Once I was sure he wasn't going to do anything ridiculous I'd dropped my things into my old room. The room I'd shared with Katie, where we grew up. The walls are still painted a pale yellow which has begun to bubble and peel from the years that have passed. The floorboards creak from my weight, worn down from our constant running in and out of the back room. It's nothing big or fancy but it was all Katie and I needed. It was our home. Pausing in the doorway I run my fingers over the markings on the door.

Katie – 1987
Eleanor – 1987

Eleanor – 1989
Katie – 1989

Eleanor – 1991
Katie – 1991

I can't help but smile sadly at the heights we'd marked on the doors, sometimes I'd be taller and on other occasionsn it'd be Katie. She was always smaller, lankier then I. Isn't it funny how genetics work. Two people can be so alike yet so different. My duffels hitting the floor with a thunk as I float onto one of the single beds. Katie's old bed. Running my fingers nostalgically over the old covers Bobby's no doubt left unchanged since, my gaze trails to the corner of the room where her dollhouse use to sit before she bought into the Cover Girl scene. The dollhouse I'd wrecked after I'd found out she'd been folding the pages in my novels. Of course Bobby made me fix it and despite it still looking horribly destroyed Katie forgave me. At the time it felt like the end of the world. Now I wouldn't mind going back to having her scream at me for a little while longer.

"EL!" I'm suddenly hearing Bobby shout through the house "Your damn phone's ringing like no tomorrow!"

Boots thudding through the house, I wander into the kitchen where Bobby sits with a beer and lore "Who is it?"
