"And uh... there's nothing. Except an old cowboy cemetery right in the middle."

"It's smack bang in the center of the Devils Trap and you didn't think it was a little suss?"

Cold Oak was a battleground.

From what Sam has explained to Dean and me when we'd come traipsing back inside is that Azazel had rounded up all the gifted children and relocated them to Cold Oak. They'd been pitted against each other for a blood sport until only one remained. Hearing that Andy Gallagher was there and killed admittedly I felt my stomach drop all over again. I actually kind of liked Andy. According to Sam he'd projected a vision of where we were to Dean. That's how Dean saw the bell tower.

"That's awful. Poor Andy", Dean agreeably hums from where he sits on the back of the chair, towering over both Sam and I.

"The man who stabbed me... his name was Jake", Sam mentions over a drumstick of cold fried chicken "He has unbelievable enhanced strength."

Rolling my eyes I subconsciously rub the crown of my head, scrunching my expression "I know. Felt like I got slammed by a bull." When Sam continues to watch me insistently I add with a wave of my hand "He escaped into the woods surrounding the town."

Sam's eyebrows furrow at my comment as if something doesn't quite add up in his mind "The Demon said he only wanted one of us out alive."

"He tell you that?" Dean presses Sam who answers with a nod.

"In a dream."

"He tell you anything else?"

"No, no", Sam tells his brother, sparing me a glance when he adds "That's it. Nothing else." From the way Sam's gaze flickers between us I'm not entirely convinced that's the whole truth. Yet before I can pry Sam leans back in his chair "You know what I don't get is if the Demon only wanted one of us then how did Jake and I both get away?"

Elbows on the table I tilt my head and pass my attention to Dean waiting for his response. He's the one who wants to lie to Sam then Dean's the one who can tell him why he's now alive when Talley's knife severed his spinal cord. Shifting off the chair Dean spares me one knowing look before lying smoothly "Well I mean they left you for dead." Rising to his feet and turning away, Dean smoothly diverts the conversation "So now that Yellow Eyes has Jake what's he gonna do with him?"
