After an hour of confiding in my mother, Joe knocked on the door. I introduced the two and the greetings were pleasant. As my mum passed the device to my older brother, I saw Joe's mouth open in shock. 'Woah' he said in a quiet whisper.
"Hey sis, how's life out there. And hi friend." He said with his deep Jamaican accent.
My brother was born and raised in Jamaica, but lived with our grandma on my dad's side, instead of over here with us.
"Uh-hi." Joe said shyly.
Woah! This is the first time I saw Joe, not Johnny, but Joe, shy!
"Life's life I guess, but I'll be fine." I gave a reassuring smile.
"That's what mi like to hear, yuh nuh. So boi, what's your name?" He eyed Joe sternly. I felt Joe's nervousness and so I rubbed his shoulder.
"I-I'm Joe." He bowed.
My brother chuckled whilst I simply smiled. Joe blushed, which I found cute.
"I no speak English well." Joe stated with a sweet smile.
"It's okay, Hannaiya can teach you." My bro briefly chuckled. Joe just nodded, looking at me for help.
"I'll be your translator." I said in Korean to Joe and he nodded with a grin.
"So you two are roommates?" My brother asked in a cautious tone. I simply nodded.
"No frisky business I hope." He dyes me and looked weirdly between us."Ew no! We're just friends, he's also got a twin brother called Johnny." I stated to reassure him. I turned to Joe and asked him in Korean, "Where's Johnny?"
He replied with," Dishing out dinner."
"When are you coming to visit me?" My brother asked.
"Well I'm doing work, work, work, work until Christmas. But I don't know if I'm going to the UK." I shrugged.
Meanwhile, Joe got comfy on my bed and began texting on his phone with a small giddy smile.
"Well come Jamaica. If you come to me, not only will I have to go to a miserable cold country, but you'll get some sun and vitamin D." He smirked thinking he was smart.
Being five years older than me, you'd think he'd be five years younger than me.
"Or maybe you, mum and pups should come over here for Christmas. It would be a nice way to get to know my lifestyle, different culture and all of that." I suggested quite excitedly.
"Hmm... It doesn't sound too bad. I can scare off any thirsty dargy dargs!" He gassed and I laughed at him ridiculously.
"I'm not a teenager you know." I shook my head.
"I know, I know." He cheesed.
"The clubbing here is great." I stated, which caused his eyes to lit up.
We spent another fifteen minutes planning on Christmas plans. It had me excited. After our goodbyes, Joe literally tackled me on the bed.
"THATS YOUR BROTHER???" I yelled, pinning me on the bed whilst he was on top of me.
"Uh.." I didn't know what to say, so I slowly nodded.
"No way?" He whispered.
Due to my arms being pinned down I couldn't shrug. I just stared at him as his reddened face ran through many expressions at once.
"Get off of me!" I laughed and sighed at his annoyance.
He slowly eased off of me. We both sat up on the bed and stared at each other. Wow I've never seen Joe like this.
