"jimin is julie coming with us?" mr.park asks folding his last piece of clothing. "not with us but she may come after two or three days." jimin helps his dad arranging his bag."jimin, i have something important to tell you." mr.park places his clothes inside the bag and looks at jimin. jimin hums still folding his clothes. "stop what you're doing. it's very important." mr.park commands. jimin nods and looks back at his father.
"jisoo's grandmother passed away." mr.park takes a deep breath and sighs. jimins smile disappears from his face. "wh-what?" he asks his brows creasing in confusion. "son jung hui, jisoo's grandmother passed away about a week ago." mr.park says not looking at jimin anymore. mr.parks eyes filled with tears remembering every interaction he had with her.
"i— sh— ho—" jimin clears his throat "how is jisoo holding up?" "i— don't know son. you know how she is. she puts this happy and calm facade in front of all of us. we can never crack that wall she built which hides her true feelings. it was only her grandmother who knew how she felt but now she is gone. poor girl, she has no family. i don't know how she'll pay the bills since her grandmother is gone." mr.park sighs.
"does she know that her mom is in a rehabilitation center?" jimin asks leaning closer to his dad. "she doesn't know. her mom recently moved to an asylum. they said it's getting worse—"
"what's getting worse uncle? which asylum? why didn't you say this to me? for how long?" jisoo abruptly opens the bedroom door and yells. "we're you listening to us jisoo?" jimin asks looking at her softly.
"i wanted to say that i've made dinner ready." jisoo's eyes were swollen and her nose was red as a cherry. jisoo runs over to mr.park. "uncle tell me. what is getting worse? where is my mother? what is going on?" jisoo kneels down next to mr.park with veins popping out from neck.
"tell me uncle. tell me. tell me!" jisoo begged with teary eyes. "your mother is schizophrenic. she had it before you were born, it was genetic. your mom was always quite, she barely talked. she created all types of scenarios in her mind and when she did speak her words would be all jumbled up. people thought of her as a psycho in a sense.
your dad still loved her nonetheless. he loved you both so much but after you were born he was so worried. you barely smiled like her, you never laughed, your face was emotionless. your dad was worried by the fact that your mother barely showed any love for you when he went to work.
so he would always come back home during lunch and whenever he got free time he would come home to show you how you smile and how you have to feel. no matter how many times your dad yells or argues with your mom, she would just sit still and stare at him.
so one day, he took her to the hospital. the doctor said she may have depression and he recommended a therapist. months passed but your mom still didn't recover. then the doctor put her in a rehabilitation center. your dad had too much stress upon him. the fees of the rehabilitation center and the expenses of foods and clothes that goes to you.
he barely ate. he worked and worked. you were around two that time. your dad was lethargic and he lacked energy. you could see his ribs popping out from his chest. trust me, i've seen it. he would pass out at times and he would fall. one day, your dad was driving to work but unfortunately he blacked out and his car crashed into another car. fortunately the other driver survived but your dad didn't. then your dads mother, your grandmother took care of you ever since." mr.park had a sad smile while looking at jisoo.
jisoo didn't utter a word. she was processing everything he said. "why didn't you say anything?" she croaks. "it was your grandmothers wish. she never told us the reason why." he said and sighed. jimin looks at jisoo with sadness.
jisoo's eyes were filled with tears but she never let the tears fall. jisoo swallows slowly and stands up. "i—uh— will be going out for a walk." she mutters and runs out the apartment with nothing but a pair of slippers, long sleeved shirt and sweats.
jisoo ran. sprint was actually what she did. she sprinted her way to where ever her feet led her. jisoo stops abruptly to take a breather. she breathed heavily, white smoke puffing out from her mouth. she trudged her way to sit on the bench.
jisoo punched her chest. it was if all the air in jisoo's lungs were gone. she felt as if she was being suffocated. as if she was locked inside a confined little box. she finally started to cry in frustration. what's happening? she yelled inside her mind. jisoo's fingers and toes were cold and the piercing cold air wasn't helping.
"jisoo?" a feminine voice came from behind jisoo. jisoo looked behind her and saw naeun. "n—na— help" jisoo croaks trying to stand up but falling down on her knees with her hand grabbing a fistful of her shirt. "oh my god jisoo!" naeun grabs jisoo but falls down with jisoo.
naeun looks over at jisoo whose eyes were closed. naeun starts panicking. "someone call the ambulance!" naeun screamed at the crowd that was now surrounding her and jisoo. "jisoo wake up." naeun repeatedly said as she held jisoo close to her.
