Better Than Ever

(Rehearsal room, later on.)

Rochelle: Ugh! I am never gonna live that down.

(Peso gets his xylophone while Kwazii tunes his guitar.)

Peso: You were pretty bad at the Fall Formal.

Rochelle: A demon. I turned into a raging she-demon.

Shellington: (He takes a seat behind the drumkit.) And you tried to turn everyone here into teenage zombies for your own personal army.

(Dashi gets out her keytar.)

Dashi: Oh, Rochelle, you have us, and we've forgiven you for your past... ahem... booboos.

Tweak: (Tuning her banjo) To be honest, I'd say the whole experience brought everyone at Octo High closer than ever before!

Kwazii: Ok, everyone ready?

Octonauts minus 1: Ready!

Kwazii: Count us in, Shellington.

Shellington: (Clicking his drumsticks) One, two, three!

And I'm so glad that we're better (Peso transforms into his ‘half penguin form’ by gaining penguin flippers and beak).

Rochelle: [applauds] Bravo you 5. That was great!

Dashi: [laughs] I still can't believe that happens when we play! Ooh! I’ve got to bring my camera so we can get a picture with those tails, ears and everything!

Tweak: I just wonder why it happens. Captain Barnacles took his compass back to his own world. Shouldn't that mean he took all the magic back with him?

Kwazii: Who cares why it happens? It makes my band totally awesome!

Dashi: Oh! Your band?

Kwazii: Of course! It was my idea to start the Octonauts so we could be in the showcase. Plus I'm the lead singer and guitarist

Rochelle: You guys are sounding really tight.

Kwazii: We're getting there. Dashi’s still coming in a little late on the second verse, and Tweak’s banjo solo could use a little work. They'll get it together in time for the showcase.

Dashi: (Groans.)

Shellington: Don’t worry, Dashi. (Quietly) I think you’re singing on backup vocals was beautiful.

Dashi: (Blushing) Oh… thanks Shelly. You’re very sweet.

(Dashi kisses Shellington on the cheek, causing him to blush too.)

Tweak: Speaking of the showcase, uh, I don't suppose any of our friends from, uh... out of town might come? Uh, it being a special charity event and all.

Rochelle: Sorry, Tweak. I don't think Barnacles gonna be back at Octo High any time soon.

Tweak: [laughs nervously] Oh, yeah. Okay. I just, you know, thought I'd ask. We’d better, k-keep on rockin' it.

(She drops her banjo.)

Dashi: Well… [giggles] Someone is quite the smitten bunny. 

Rochelle: Hehehehe. Yeah.

Tweak: Who? Me?!

Dashi: Come now. We know how you’re feeling.

Tweak: Well… maybe just a little. But, he is from another world, and if there’s another me in that world too, they may already be together.

Rochelle: (Sighs) Yeah… It’s a real shame that Joseph was rude to me before, and the way that made the old me act was just awful, wasn’t it?

Dashi: Mmm... horrid.

Kwazii, Tweak, Peso: Mm-hmm; uhhh; a little.

Shellington: Yep!

Tweak: But the important thing is that you've turned yourself around.

Rochelle: Thanks, Tweak, but I'm not sure everyone else at OHS feels the same way.

[P.A. system beeps]

Principal Inkling: Rochelle, please report to the main foyer.

Rochelle: (Heading to the door.) Gotta run. I volunteered to show some new students around the school. Thought it'd be good for them to get to know the new me before they heard all the stuff about the old me.

(The other 5 smile as Rochelle walks out the door.)

Kwazii: We've still got a few minutes before lunch starts. What do you say we do "Awesome As I Wanna Be”?

Peso: Um, Kwazii? I was wondering if we could maybe play the song I wrote?

Kwazii: We'll get to it.

Peso: (Disappointed) Oh. Okay. 

Kwazii: [plays chord]

(They start playing the song)
