Friendship Is Magic?

(At the party, everyone is getting at odds with each other and arguing, including Tiffany, Joseph and Wilbert who are in different areas of the room arguing with different people.)

Wilbert: [sighs] I'm gonna get more punch!

(He storms off and bumps into Barnacles)

Wilbert: Barnacles?

Barnacles: Hey, Wilbert. Good to see you.

Wilbert: What are you doing here? You came back for the big competition, right?

Barnacles: Something like that.

Wilbert: Huh. Not that there's gonna be any real competition. No one here wants this as bad as my band does!

(Kwazii sees the Dazzlings enter and clicks his fingers quickly.)

Barnacles: Coming, Kwazii! (To Wilbert) See you later.

Wilbert: Just stay away from my childhood friend!

(Barnacles rolls his eyes as he walks to his friends)

(The students’ arguing becomes louder)

Marina: [mock surprise] Oh, no! No one's mingling! It's like there's some kind of underlying tension that could bubble to the surface at any minute!

Lily: (Holding up apple juice) It’s the fruit punch, isn't it? I knew I used too much grape juice!

Marina: (Face palms) It’s not the fruit punch! It's us! And that’s apple juice you idiot!

Olivia: But the punch is awful, too.

Lily: What do you know about good fruit punch?

Olivia: More than you!

Lily: Do not!

Olivia: Do too! Now be quiet!

Marina: This is just the kickoff party, girls. Imagine what a tizzy they'll be in by the time the Battle of the Bands starts.

Barnacles: There isn't going to be a Battle of the Bands! We're gonna make sure of that! (To his friends) Alright, Octonauts, let's do this! (Each of the Octonauts take each others’ hands.)

(Rochelle smiles)

Barnacles: Friendship is magic!

(Awkward silence]

[someone coughs from the crowd]

Kwazii: (hushed and opens one eye) Uh, weren't there rainbows and lasers and stuff last time?

Barnacles: (Hushed) I don't understand. We're all together again. Why isn't this working?

(Pause)

Tunip: (Pops from the backpack, hushed) You, uh... really need to go ahead and do that whole "magic of friendship" thing now.

Barnacles: (hushed) I’m trying, Tunip. I thought the six of us standing together against the sirens would bring out the magic we needed to defeat them. That's what happened before.

Marina: Talk about throwing down the gauntlet! This group is obviously serious about winning! A little cocky though, aren't they? Claiming there won't really be a battle. Seems they think they already got this thing all locked up.

Tiffany: Not if the Great and Powerful Tifffany has anything to do with it!

Wilbert: Whatever, Tiffany! We're the best band at OHS!

Young girl from that morning: No! The Crusaders are gonna win!

(The students argue even louder… except for the Octonauts band, Barnacles and Rochelle.)

Marina: I think we may have found what we're looking for. Or rather, it found us.

(Lily is confused)

Olivia: [slaps herself]

Marina: Magic!! Don't you see?! Everyone else has fallen under our spell. 

(The Octonauts slip out of the room) 

Marina: But not these students. These students are special.
