The Semifinals/Awesome As I Wanna Be

(Semi Finals)

(Wilbert’s band is out of the finals while the Dazzlings move up. Principal Inkling changes the board around to show this. Wilbert is enraged.)

(Backstage…)

Rochelle: This is it! Last round and you're in the finals! Unless you think the counter-spell is ready to be played now…

(Barnacles looks uncomfortable)

Tweak: Don't worry, Barnacles. Finals aren't until tonight. We'll get in a little more practice before we're supposed to hit the stage. We won't let you down!

Rest of main cast: ["Mm-hmm!", "Yeah!", etc.]]

Barnacles: (Quietly) You won't let me down…

Peso: Um, I was just wondering. We haven't played any of my songs yet, and…

Kwazii: It's the semifinals. We gotta do "Awesome As I Wanna Be”.

Peso: Don't know why I even asked…

(Rochelle holds Peso’s hand and Peso looks over at Rochelle weakly.)

(Onstage)

[Tiffany]
...I got tricks up my sleeve

Crowd: [cheering as the song ends]

Principal Inkling: [laughing] Fantastic!

(Backstage.)

Tiffany: Hmph. You're never gonna top that performance, "Octogines". You shouldn't be allowed to when you have such a big advantage over the rest of us.

Kwazii: My superior guitar playing and off-the-charts awesome singing voice?

Tiffany: Oh, don't be ridiculous. I mean (Points at Barnacles) him! If you were really all that, Kwazii, you wouldn't have needed to bring in some magical ringer to have half a chance. Everyone's talking about it.

Kwazii: Ha! Puh-leeze! I could win this thing as a solo act and everybody knows it!

(Everyone looks at Kwazii like 'That's not a good idea'.)

Tiffany: [scoffs] Sure you could.

[Tiffany runs off.]

Principal Inkling: Next up, the Octonauts.

(The Octonauts head onstage)

Tunip: Knock 'em dead, Octonauts!

Rochelle: (uneasy) I’ll be here... just... watching.

(Onstage)

(Not taking it anymore, Rochelle jumps and knocks Kwazii down.)

[instruments clatter into one another, including Tweak’s banjo damaging one of Shellington’s drums. The music stops.]

Peso: Dah! (Runs offstage)

Wilbert: Now that's the bad girl we love to hate!

Crowd: [jeering]

(The band leaves the stage)

Girl: I knew she was still trouble!

Boy: The real Rochelle is back!

Rochelle: No. It isn't like that.

(Ashamed, Rochelle walks offstage and the Dazzlings smirk)
