*six weeks later*
Peter was up playing Minecraft on his phone at 2am. He was up because he was afraid to have nightmares, but he couldn't stop them by just sleeping them off like all his other problems. This one was directly related to sleeping.
He wanted to play Minecraft with Anthony, that would help keep his mind off things. Anthony always made the weird mistake of going into some random cave after dark to 'find mushrooms' because of the one time he had found a mushroom in a cave. Now Anthony had a strange obsession with how Minecraft mushrooms grew, like if you went to sleep one night and they just grew to full height, or if they did it in the day, or what. Peter had to admit, it was pretty intriguing, but since they were in survival mode on their private world, he always had to fight off zombies or collect wood and iron for the house they were building.
The 'house' was actually a treehouse combined with a mini-Stark-Tower. It even had its own ark reactor (beacon powering system) to keep the redstone lights on.
Peter wanted to text Anthony, but Anthony almost never slept because of his late hours doing whatever genius-y things he was doing. Peter felt bad for waking Anthony up once or twice before with the promise of an over-the-phone StarWars movie marathon.
Peter had never actually talked to Anthony over the phone, or seen his face yet, but once or twice when they were both up late, they would text and arrange to watch StarWars at the same time, and comment to each other via text.
May always had the late shift at the hospital, so Peter was never caught. May would definitely freak out if she caught him texting a complete stranger that he didn't even know the real name of. And a freaking out on her end lead to a beating on his end
But Peter trusted Anthony. He didn't know why - whether it was his spidey-senses or just his gut feeling - he knew that Anthony would do nothing to hurt him.
Ned and MJ disagreed. Peter had told them about Anthony today, and considered showing them some of the texts, but both Ned and MJ blew up in his face so he decided not to.
There had been a huge screaming match over it, and in the end Ned was crying and Peter was furious and his senses started going haywire, giving him a migraine. MJ solved it by stepping right in front of Peter and regaining her mask of cool indifference.
'Well,' she had said. 'If you're going to go and hang out with a prick like that instead of us, then you can do it. But don't come crawling back to us when this explodes in your face. Just like the lie about knowing Spiderman has.'
Peter was shocked. They didn't believe him? MJ stormed out of the apartment, Ned close behind her, both of them screaming to never come to them for anything, even if he was dying, because they would not help him.
They considered him an imbecile and a waste of their time. They had said as much, in those exact words. So Peter had locked them out fo the apartment, taken their emergency keys so they couldn't get back in, and threatened them to never even look at him again.
