"How the hell did you let this happen?" Damon asked in complete disbelief, glancing down at Oscar's lifeless body sitting in the chair of their university dorm room.
I furrowed my eyebrows, "Don't even think about blaming this on me, I'm not the one that unscrewed his heart." I pointed out the giant hole in his shirt where someone had ripped out his heart.
"No, you're just the one who chased him down, kidnapped him and are still, technically, holding him hostage." Stefan commented from beside Damon.
"You want someone to blame? Blame Damon." I glanced over to the dark haired vampire before explaining, "He's the one who made this stupid arrangement with Lily to bring her Oscar. All I wanted was the bloody stone."
Damon shrugged innocently, "To get Elena back."
"And how's that working out for you?" I questioned with a tilt of my head.
"Nayeli's right." Stefan said with a sigh, looking over to his brother, "From where I'm standing, she's in more danger than ever because you won't let her rest."
Damon stood speechless, glancing over to me for help but all I did was stay silent, not wanting, nor caring, to get in between their brother drama.
Damon scoffed before shrugging off what just happened, "We need to get rid of this body."
We were interrupted by the sound of the dorm room door opening quickly, catching the rest of us off guard and not having enough time to cover up Oscar's body.
In the doorway stood a young girl, one who I assumed attended the university, with a card in her hand.
"Uh, wrong room, darling." I stated the obvious with a dry laugh before she simply handed Stefan the card in her hand without a word. I watched with an odd stare as the girl stood in silence, waiting for Stefan to accept it.
Stefan knitted his eyebrows together in confusion, taking the card from the girl's hand hesitantly before opening it, "A message from Miss Nora Hildegard. Dictated but not read. For every hour that Oscar isn't returned, a Whitmore student will die. Starting now."
As soon as he finished reading, as if on cue, the young college girl plunged a sharp object into her neck, letting out gasps as she fell to the floor, riding out a bloody death.
"Oh god." I looked away from her body with a roll of my eyes, stepping back and turning around to face the two brothers.
Damon's eyes were wide, not leaving the girl's lifeless body, "No." He breathed out, finally peeling his eyes away to look up at me, "Hey, these are your goons; call them off."
I shook my head, chiming in, " Oh, no. No, no, no. This is your doing. You're the one who guaranteed Oscar's safe return. And now you're the one who's going to fix this. I'm doing what I came for in the first place." I glanced between the two.
"I'm getting that Phoenix Stone and I'm bringing Kai back."
...
"Well, what better way to spend Halloween, huh?" Alaric asked sarcastically in the dimly lit morgue room where Jo's dead body lay pale on a counter.
"Why would I want to go to some stupid Halloween party like a normal student and maybe meet a nice guy, or not-so-nice guy, have a fun, drunk Halloween hookup, when I can be here?" Bonnie continued with the sarcasm, glancing between us two.
"Yes, exactly." I agreed with a cheery smile causing her to glance at me, "I mean what normal student gets to raise the dead?" I shrugged, "Besides, Jo's the perfect experiment for this before we use it to bring Kai back." I held up the ruby red stone, examining it.
