I awoke with an aching feeling in my neck, realizing my head was hung low in an uncomfortable position, my hair surrounding my face like a shield. I let out a loud groan, lifting my head slowly, watching my hair fall from my face as I sat up straight, not before noticing my feet were chained tightly to the chair I was sitting in. Once my spine aligned with the back of my seat, I glanced down, seeing my hands matched my feet in being chained down. Whoever had done this had definitely taken precaution in making sure I was secure. I knitted my eyebrows together, growing frustrated and confused as to why I was shackled down in.. an apartment?

I heard the sound of a door knob being turned from behind me, coming to the conclusion that somebody was entering the room but I couldn't see because I was faced in the opposite direction.

I took note on the way they entered abruptly, door swinging open before they let out a sigh of relief. "Damn door jam. Heh. Gets me every time."

My body stiffened completely at the all too familiar voice. My heart began to race when the sound of their steps came to a halt. Odds being they were looking over at me.

"Oh, good. You're up."

No. It couldn't be. I wanted to shut my eyes, take in deep breaths and tell myself I was dreaming but this was all too real. It's impossible.

Each step they took in my direction only made my heart skip a million beats until they were stood before me. I could've sworn when he looked into my eyes my heart leaped out of my chest right there and then.

"Hello, beautiful." The brunette greeted me with his charming smile.

"Kai." I finally managed to breathe out.

"It's felt like an eternity since I've last saw you." I exhaled a breath of relief as my eyes began to water slightly, taking in his appearance. I shook my head slightly meeting his gaze once again, "I didn't think it was possible to miss someone this much."

Kai only scoffed at the words I said, crouching down so that his height matched mine sitting in this chair, "Jesus, Nayeli, I leave for thirty minutes and you forget how to act." He cracked a smile.

I knitted my eyebrows together in confusion, shaking my head softly, "Thirty m--Kai it's been three years." I told him.

"Wow." He rose his eyebrows in shock and for a moment I thought we were on the same page until he rose to his feet, "This is a wake-up call for me, Nayeli, really I mean--" He chuckled, "I didn't realize you were so obsessed with me."

I was too confused about the reality I was in to register his stupid joke. "Kai--" I watched as he began to walk to another part of the room but I was only faced one way so I couldn't see where. I jerked against my restraints, regretting it instantly when I felt the burning sensation of vervain seeping into my skin.

I groaned at the feeling, "Kai, please, just.." I sighed, taking in a deep breath as I tried to calm myself. Clearly, I had forgotten how stubborn he could be and though we were on two different pages I played along, "Sorry. I-I just didn't know how long you'd be gone so.. so why don't you just unchain me and we can talk?"

I heard him hum quietly from behind me along with other rustling noises with whatever it was he was doing, "Okay, sure." He agreed and I mentally praised his cooperativeness until he was in front of me once again, an iron rod in his hand with some sort of lettering at the end of it. "But not before you've been punished after that little stunt you pulled earlier."

"W-What?" I stuttered, watching as his eyes began to cloud with darkness.

He took a deep breath, pulling the iron rod close to his face so he could examine the lettering on it, "God, Nayeli, you have no idea how long it took to find one of these with my name on it." He broke out into a fit of laughter, "Actually, not that long when you find a blacksmith and hex him to do whatever you want. I borrowed some magic, by the way, I hope you don't mind, really." He shrugged as he stepped closer.
