As predicted, they had 5 inches of snow overnight. Well, more than 5 inches, 8 to be exact. The house was cold when he woke, he was shivering under his duvet by itself. The house was empty except for him and his brother, the roads were icy but not icy enough so their mom was off to work, along with her husband who had taken his baby to daycare. The paint in his water cup was still the grayish-blue that it was a few months ago, he really needed to get clean water.

Sliding on another pair of pants, he opened his door to find Martyn opening his as well, rubbing the sleep from his eyes.

"Mornin'," Phil said first, happier to have a good three more hours of sleep.

Martyn only grumbled, making his way down the wooden stairs, Phil following behind him in pursuit. Martyn drank tea while the younger helped himself to coffee, they stood in silence in the kitchen, per usual. Martyn had grown so used to Phil's silence that when he did start talking again they didn't know how to communicate. The silence felt better. Ten minutes into their sad excuse for a breakfast, Martyn walked off wordlessly, flicking on the heat before heading back up to his room.

Phil pulled out his phone, he couldn't wait any longer, he sent Dan a text. He didn't want to appear clingy, but since they did have a snow day, he thought it would be a good idea if they went out and did something.

Apparently, so did Dan because he responded faster than light which made Phil feel better about texting him so early. None the less, he headed up to his room to get dressed.

Phil managed to walk the fifteen minutes on the icy sidewalks without slipping once to the cafe downtown where he would meet Dan for lunch. It had stopped snowing and the sun was even beaming through the clouds, the light reflecting off the white powder and hitting Phil directing in his eyes.

The door jingled as he walked into the cafe, a wave of heat hit rolled over him and he was sweating in the mere thirty seconds that it took to spot Dan from where he was standing. The brunet grinned at him the whole walk to the booth in the corner, he had two drinks in front of him.

"I ordered for you so I didn't look weird sitting alone." The brunet explained. He wore a blue holey jumper with a white shirt under and a pair of jeans to match, his hair looked curlier than usual, but more wavey at the same time. He looked good.

"Thank you." Phil nodded at him, shedding off his coat and taking a sip of his second coffee of the day.

"Did you walk all the way here?"

"Yeah." Phil nodded, sliding his foot up against Dan's from under the table. Their hands were centimeters apart now, both resting on the table. "You know what," Phil said, taking Dan's hand in his own and holding it openly on the table. "There's no one here that we know, it doesn't matter as long as I have you."

Dan's cheeks flushed a bright pink, he squeezed Phil's hand before sipping on his drink to hide his hopeful smile.
