I toss and turn quietly, but feel a hand on my shoulder and my eyes open, a small hand on my shoulder, but it moves back with a soft gasp, I adjust my eyes to the darkness of my room and look back, to see a small figure standing above my bed in only shorts, electric blue eyes glowing in the darkness.
"A-Alex? What are you doing in here, you should be sleeping." I say, rubbing my eyes, he whimpers slightly and steps back before speaking, I hear a small sniff before I notice the glint of tears. "Alex, hey. What's wrong?"
"I...I can't sleep...I keep having dreams of. Of then...back in training. Can I just, sleep with you? Like old times? I...I'm still regretful I took that away from you. From us, and I want to maybe...try again." He says and I sigh, knowing he referred to our relationship before he left and before I retired. Everyone thought the real reason I left was because of what happened back last year, but it was because I couldn't handle Alex's death. Well, obvious fake death.
"Of course you can. We'll talk tomorrow about the whole...relationship thing. Come on." I say, moving over to the colder part of the bed, but it didn't matter, it heated up quickly and Alex moves in, leaning against my body, having been used to the feeling that we both missed, I hug him close to me and he goes to sleep quickly, I grab my phone and tilt it towards me, pressing the power button, the background glows bright, showing me and Alex outside the farmhouse, smiling and drinking on the porch peacefully. I wanted that again.
--------------------
There was a knock on the door and it opens, I look up from Alex and see Channing standing there, looking to Alex, then looking at me, I smile.
"Long story?" He asks and I nod, he lets out a single quick chuckle before pointing to the living room, I nod and he closes the door slowly, Alex picks his head up and looks at me with a smug face.
"Long story my ass. You asked me to homecoming." He says and I open my mouth in mock disbelief."I'm sorry, you asked me to Snowball first."
"Yea and you chickened out like a pussy." He says and I wrestle him slightly before I laugh and he joins me, I place a small kiss on his head which makes him grow furious with blush and he just sits on the bed as I get up and pull my clothes on, smiling.
"And you can't even handle a small kiss," I say grinning and he starts babbling out incoherent arguments nad excuses, I just walk out with a small wave and join Channing in the living room. He looks up and waves me over to him, I follow and he turns his laptop to me showing multiple camera shots.
"He's going back to the states. Why?" I ask and Channing shrugs, but my eyes widen and I grab my coat quickly and run out the door, Channing looks out.
"Michael, what's wrong?" I ask and I grab my wallet, pulling a small card, I toss it to him and he looks at it confused. "Our school. What the fuck does that mean?" He asks and I look at him.
"He may be sadistic, but where would he go to cause irreparable damage? A school...I have a feeling he's not going to bomb the place or kill anyone. I was blind. The same shipment page that showed the missing bombs also charted a grouping of jars the held a specific venom!" I yell to him and his eyes grow wide."Lancehead Venom."
---------------------
My motorcycle revs as I shoot down the highway, already into Washington, I tap my earbud and it rings, then two different clicks sound.
"Alright, Louis and Ross on one end, Channing and the group on the other. I need all possible details both USSIDA and our small undercover grouping has tabbed down. ANYWHERE."
Louis starts, pulling up old files from a few months back. "Alright, We know all powers are run through Lancehead Venom after an old study by the old Prime Minister, but he died - big surprise- in a train bombing." She says and then Donna pipes up.
"They have different effects on all people like some get all four powers, others are bi-fuses and tri-fuses. Lancehead Venom can also be used as an amplifier if applied in a past form to the furs skin and can be incorporated into other liquids to form a fast-acting degenerating enzyme-styled gas." Donna says and I growl.
"I bet he's either powering himself up, making that gas to attack somewhere important or both. How many jars of Lancehead Venom were delivered?" I ask and I hear the clacking of keyboards before Ross pipes up.
"Six containers, fifty ounces each, that's at least two gallons worth of Lancehead Venom. Enough to make-"
"An army of people like him. No, that's too practical, how would he use this stuff? It makes no sense." I say, and I keep listening to the chatter, but something rises in the back of my brain and a hiss sounds off like a snake.
"It would be goooood to kill him, wouldn't it?" The voice hisses and I look around before speaking.
"Guys, did you say anything?" I ask and I hear a chorus of no's and denying sounds.
The voice has reached its peak.
