When I woke my friends were still there and both were waiting for me to wake up. However, I wasn't ready for the interrogation and I was still extremely exhausted, so I pretended to keep sleeping. I was growing very familiar with the feeling fictional villains must experience as my plan was foiled.

"I think I can tell when Sleepy is actually sleeping." Eros said with his eyes trained on his phone.

"I don't know what you're talking about." I mumbled as I rolled over and curled into Nereus to which they wrapped their arms around me.

At least they seemed to be on my side, for now. Eros was already annoying, and it was only going to get worse. I could only assume Nereus would keep their levelled virtue and not push me to answer questions I wanted left alone but I knew Eros was far more persistent and overbearing.

"Why did you have a go at Su, Sleepy?" He said with a poke to my side.

I tried to slap his hand away, but he just kept poking me until I answered. Persistent and overbearing.

"Your groupies are damn annoying, they physically pushed me out of a conversation this time then had the nerve to hit me when I reminded them to use their manners. The swine pushed too many buttons and I pushed back, literally." I explained all while not lifting my head from Nereus' shoulder.

"Now I'm not condoning fighting, but the groupies have been getting on my nerves too and it was good to see one get knocked down a peg or two. Good work Feisty!" Nereus jumped in with a chuckle.

"Feisty? What happened to Newbie?" I questioned the change of nickname.

"You're not really new anymore and after that fiasco you can't deny that you're a little feisty!" They explained and I couldn't complain.

"We could use someone who's a little feisty in the fight club." Eros knew how to ruin a moment.

Nereus and I simultaneously shot up in the bed and stared at him with wild eyes.

"You're joking right?" I asked, bewildered, while Nereus also spoke.

"I'm trying to get you out of that nonsense! Do you really think I'm going to let her get involved in that mess too you absolute embesil?" Nereus almost seemed livid as they shouted at our thoughtless friend.

Eros simply held his hands up in surrender, with an eye roll, before changing the subject.

"So, where'd you go after the little fiasco? We couldn't find you." Eros clearly sounded suspicious of my answer before I even gave him one.

Okay now's the time. I kicked Su's ass so, surely, I could tell my friends one tiny half-truth. It wasn't the first time I had avoided telling them the whole truth about something and I had spent time thinking of my best excuse possible.

"I hit my head a few times during the fight so I went to the hospital to get checked for a concussion", not a total lie, "my phone died while I was being monitored so I couldn't really update either of you."

I rested my head back down on my pillow and covered my eyes with my arm as I spoke so that I wouldn't have to actually face my friends as I hid from them once more.

"I could've driven you! I also find it hard to believe you were being monitored that long just for a concussion." He pressed and I quickly realised I hadn't thought of a story to combat the last part of his statement.

"The girl has had a pretty gnarly concussion and clearly needs some more rest so how about we leave the fifth degree for later Sherlock Holmes." Nereus saved me with a sigh before beginning to play with my hair in a calming manner.
