13/10/19- Emilia P.O.V
I woke up bright and early as I have a baby to collect and mind today.
My half sister Freja moved to Japan with her husband Nikolas a few years ago and she has a young daughter just about one years old. They are going out for the day and since I'm in Japan I offered to mind Vera, their daughter. Nikolas begged me to bring her to the Grand Prix so that's what I'm doing.
I didn't bother waking Lando, I only had to walk down to the lobby as Nikolas and Freja were going to meet me there.
"Hej," I smiled as I met Freja, enveloping her in a hug.
"Hur mår du?" (How are you?) she asked.
"Good, can't believe I picked such a good day to be in Japan though," I laughed, switching to English out of habit.
"Well your boyfriend is racing here. Can't believe you met him, you guys are a great couple," Nikolas smiled, rocking Vera's pram slightly.
"Well we've got to go now, we've got a two hour drive ahead of us," Freja said, hugging me again. Nikolas gave me a hug as well.
"It was great to see you guys, have fun today," I said, taking Vera's pram and heading away after her parents said bye to her.
Vera almost immediately started crying the moment I stepped into the elevator. Then when I got to mine and Landos room I had to shush her and rock her in my arms lightly, in hopes I wouldn't wake Lando up.
I didn't succeed as he appeared in a few minutes, planting a soft kiss on my shoulder blade as he gave me a hug from behind.
"Good morning," He rasped.
"Sorry, I woke you," I apologised, he shook his head.
"It's no problem Emilia, really," he smiled.
"How is little Vera?" Lando asked, taking her into his arms. He rocked her a little and she was immediately asleep.
"Oh my god I've been trying that for ages. She hates me Lando," I groaned.
"She doesn't hate you Emilia, she's a baby. She's cries for no reason sometimes," he reassured me, carefully passing her to me again so he could get dressed.
"I'll go get breakfast and bring it up here for us," he said as he reappeared from our room.
I lay down on the bed, Vera resting carefully on my chest. I was already exhausted, but that was probably because of how early I woke up and not that I was unsuited to minding a baby.
When Lando climbed onto the bed beside me I woke up from my light sleep. The baby staying sound asleep.
"Breakfast," he whispered. He lifted Vera off my chest, putting her back down on the bed between us.
"She's so cute," He cooed, "I want one," he added, cheekily.
"Shut up," I mumbled, a smile threatening to show.
After eating breakfast we brushed our teeth, keeping an eye on the tiny baby still asleep in the bed.
"Now to survive a race day constantly telling people that she's not my kid," I laughed.
"Oh my god, if anybody asks me a question about her I'm going to kill them. She doesn't even look anything like either of us if they took a closer look," he groaned.
"I know," I smiled softly, pressing a kiss to his cheek.
Lando had managed to convince McLaren to let him have a Range Rover this weekend due to the fact that we had a baby to mind. So we were loading the pram in the boot and strapping the baby seat and Vera into the car.
Then once we reached the track we were unloading everything all over again.
"Wow, this is exhausting," Lando commented.
"No more joking about wanting kids now," I spoke sassily.
"Definitely not," Lando laughed, setting up the pram while I held Vera. She's actually a very quiet child, I don't know what was up with her this morning. But since then she's been fed and changed so maybe it was one of those.
Lando finished setting up the pram and I wrapped Vera snuggly into it.
"Ready?" Lando questioned as I fussed over her. I nodded my head and we started our walk towards the entrance to the paddock.
I was right when I said I'd have to answer a lot of questions. The moment we stepped into the paddock we were bombarded by questions, not only from journalists but drivers alike.
First to meet us was Daniel.
"Wow has it really been that long since I last saw you Emilia?" He asked, jokingly.
"You know it's not mine," I laughed.
"Shit who's baby did you steal then?" Dan laughed.
"I'm babysitting my half sisters daughter for the day," I informed him.
"She's the cutest thing ever," Dan called as he was rushed off by his PR.
"I probably need to go soon too Mila," Lando pouted.
"Do you have your pass to get into the hospitality and the one for the garage?" He asked.
"I have it all," I said, pointing to around my neck.
"Ok see you later," he said, giving me a quick kiss before running off.
Lando qualified in 8th in Quali. Which was on this morning because of the storm.
Though I know I won't be seeing him until after the race, as well as I missed half of quali calming Vera down, making sure her head phones are snuggled tightly on her head.
Lando gave me a small kiss as he ran past me in the garage, that's the only time I saw him before the start of the race.
Vera was entranced in the race, surprisingly. She did no crying, almost not even a sound as she watched the race.
Sadly Lando didn't make a very good position, 11th, but Vera did get to watch a very interesting race. Then the both of us, exhausted, snuck off to Landos drivers room. Vera lying on my chest as I lay on the couch.
The only thing that woke us up was Lando appearing in the room.
"Good afternoon you two," He cooed, taking the baby off my chest and cuddling her.
"Lando before you say anything we can't keep her," I warned him.
"But I love her so much!" He smiled, kiss her forehead.
"Well my sister is coming to pick her up in half an hour," I told him, "so let's get ready to leave the track."
