Chapter 16
Lies, All Were Lies
Ian immediately pointed his gun at Lannan while he froze. Ian shouted:
"You piss-pot, I made you who you are now and you made me the villain! I'm not gonna leave yer butt. Yer gonna die to this bullet of mine only."
"Look Ian, Ian there has been a misunderstanding."
"What misunderstanding Lannan? Or I'd rather say Dragunov."
"Ian, Ian, Ian we're at my house and you would make a scene soon! Please come to my house and I'd explain everything."
"What would I enter your house for? To be killed."
"Okay, lemme tell you now. Look Ian, you've been on the run for 2 weeks now and..."
"Thanks to you Lannan."
"First listen to me" Lannan shouted
Ian lowered down his gun and spoke:
"I'm telling you Lannan, this better not be a trick otherwise you'd be dead in front of your own house."
"Okay, so what I wanna tell you is that there's no reason for you to be on the run!"
"To be caught by you!" Ian shouted
"No, Ian no, what I wanna tell is that there's no charge against you only. You've been lied to."
"Think I'm an idiot? Don't you"
"You must be thinking that why did I come to arrest you that day. Well, I never came but you did. I was sitting in my car at that place all along for I knew that you'd come and I wanted to come back in the team. That is why I spoke to you in your style only. Now isn't 'Playing with evidence' your style?" Ian chocked and then replied instantly
"Then also, why do I believe you?"
"Because I'm the only one can rely on otherwise go on and get yerself killed!"
"Okay, so..."
"Not here Ian! Come inside please"
Ian knew that the book which he thought that he was reading was actually hierographic and the case wasn't restricted to Lazam or himself or Lannan or Jennifer for numerous possibilities had now sprang up.
Ian entered Lannan's house, his eyeballs rolling from one side to the other for he did not know that when would someone jump up and stab him in his chest. He took out his gun at last and then sat on Lannan's couch.
"It is a very comfy couch you have" He said
"I knew that you'd forget. Seriously, Ian don't you remember that you had gifted this to me yourself?"
Ian ran his fingers through the purple fibres of the couch and spoke:
"Ah, I remember. I had given this to you on your 26th birthday. Australian Buloke, would take 50 ruggers to break this stuff. I had got it made all the way from Victoria!"
"Anyways............"
"Lemme speak first" Ian interrupted
"No, yer gonna eat first" said Lannan and before Ian could say anything, he was in the kitchen searching for food.
Suddenly, Ian's gun dropped and he grunted. Ian got up from the couch and tried to push it aside to pick his gun but he failed miserably. Ian looked around to see if Lannan was looking and then, turned to his work immediately. He applied all the force he could but all in vain. The Buloke, was indeed the strongest wood in the world but, surely it was not so difficult to push! Ian flexed his muscles and had a look then thought of Jennnifer and then forced his hand under the couch to pick his gun up. He heard footsteps and understood that Lannan was returning from the store. He got up and sat down again.
