"Baby, baby, baby."
I looked up from my phone. "Yeah?"
Gus grinned at me. He pressed play on his phone and started singing. "Mama, we all go to hell. Mama, we all go to hell. I'm writing a letter and wishing you well. Mama, we all go to hell."
I laughed. "You're on a My Chemical Romance run?"
"What's the worst thing I can say? Things are better if I stay! So long, and goodnight! So long, and goodnight!"
"You're adorable."
"I'm not."
I stood up and pulled his beanie over his eyes. "So cute."
He threw his hands out in front of me. "No!" He pulled the hat up. "I'm not cute."
"Yes, you are."
He scrunched his nose up and grabbed his phone again. A few seconds later, I heard the opening to Save That Shit and groaned. "Baby, why'd you do that face?"
I smiled. "You gonna sing?"
"Fuck my life, can't say that girl, don't tell me you can save that shit. All she want is payback for the way I always play that shit. You ain't gettin' nothing that I'm saying, don't tell me you it. Nothing like them other motherfuckers I could make you rich. I could make you this, baby I could make you that. I could take you there, but baby, you won't make it back. Growin' sick of this, and I don't wanna make you sad. Do I make you scared, baby won't you take me back?"
"I won't ever be scared of you."
"Bet." He winked.
"Gus!"
"I'm joking." He leaned down and kissed me.
"You better be."
"I am, I am."
"Hey, guys." Tracy came in. "I got some pills, dunno what they are. Who wanna test them?"
"I'll do it." Gus volunteered.
"No!" I said.
"Baby, I'll be fine."
"I'll take them too, then."
Tracy tossed us each a couple pills. Gus swallowed them dry, despite their size. I grabbed a swig of Gus's water bottle, which I discovered was filled with alcohol. Tracy laughed. "Damn, you two really are meant to be together."
"Fuck, dude." Gus muttered. "Shit's strong."
I started to get a headache. "Jesus, Tracy, did you poison us?"
"No, you just have a low tolerance. Come on, let's go grab food, y'all."

*Gus POV*

I looked at Leia, who was opening and closing her eyes a lot. "Baby, you okay?"
"I'm... Yeah. Fine." She muttered.
"Okay, imma go grab some water." I got up and tossed my chip bag into the trash. I looked in the mini fridge and decided to drink a soda. I grabbed the can and walked back out to the couch. Leia's eyes were closed. I sat next to her. "Hey, baby." I shook her. Nothing. "Leia..." She didn't respond. "Tracy! She overdosed!"
Tracy came running in. "What?"
"I've been feeling the effects of it, but whatever the fuck your gave us just made Leia OD!"
"Fuck."
"We gotta get her to the hospital." I tried picking her up but couldn't. "Damnit!"
He picked her up, bridal style. She looked so helpless. Thankfully, there was an emergency room down the street.
Within half an hour, she was in a room, getting treated. Everything was a blur, and I tried to find my phone. I realized it was at my feet in the waiting room of the hospital. I picked it up and saw it cracked. Fuck. Scrolling through my contacts I called one. "Momma?"
"Hey, Peepers, what's up?"
"Leia overdosed cause Tracy gave us something. And the stuff is messing me up now but like I shouldn't have let her take that shit. And now she's in the hospital and it's all my fucking fault. Momma, I let Leia get hurt."
"You didn't let her get hurt. She's in the same boat as you, she does the same stuff as you."
"No, she doesn't, cause I don't let her. I don't let her take my heavy shit but she does it anyways. She was trippin' on acid a few days ago and she was scared of me, of my tattoos."
"Will she be okay?"
"I dunno. I can't go in there, Tracy is with her."
"Where are you guys?"
"North Carolina."
"I'll take a plane, okay? I'll see you soon."
"Momma, you don't gotta."
"Yes, but I want to. I'll see you in a few hours."

*Leia POV*

I opened my eyes and winced, closing them again. There was a steady beeping. I opened my eyes again and squinted until I got used to the light. I saw Tracy sitting there. "Hey, you're up."
"Fuck."
"Fair enough. Yo, it was codeine. I didn't know about that. Sorry."
"It's okay..."
He looked at me. "Gus and Liza are in the waiting room."
"What?"
"He couldn't stand to be in here. He called Liza and she flew out. I'll go grab him." Tracy walked out.
A minute later, Gus walked in, followed by Liza. He looked at me, then back at his mom. "You can go over there." She said.
He bit his lip and walked over to the side of the bed. "Leia, I'm so sorry-"
"Don't say that." I said.
"It's my fault, I shouldn'tve let you take that shit, I'm so sorry. Tracy told me they said its codeine. Fuck, I'm so sorry. You don't understand, I shouldn'tve let you do that to yourself, fuck, you overdosed and-"
"Gus."
"I fucked up a whole concert, I had to go and perform and I didn't wanna but I did and it was bad but no one noticed. I hope. Tracy said no one did. I was so worried about you."
I noticed he was dressed in the outfit he picked for the concert. "Gus."
"I'm just so sorry-"
"Gus. It's okay."
He bit his lip, on the verge of tears. "Baby-"
"Peepers, go wait outside with Tracy, I want to talk to Leia." Liza said.
He nodded, looked down, and walked out of the room. She sat in the chair next to my bed. "Gus was worried sick about you."
"R-Really?"
"Tracy said he was screaming and crying. And I could tell he was when I came here. His eyes were red and everything. Gus is my son, I've never seen him be this upset about anyone. Leia, he cares about you. He feels so guilty."
"It's not his fault, it's mine..."
"It's no one's fault."
"I shouldn'tve taken it."
"Gus said you were scared of him when you were on acid."
"His tattoos..."
"Which ones? His face tattoos?"
"The centipede and the ones on his neck."
"Makes sense."
"I wish I didn't...."
"Leia, maybe you should call your parents."
"They abandoned me."
"I guess then you shouldn't."
I sat up, wincing. "Gus... When we grew up, he was my best friend. You know that. But when he started getting into shit, I got into it too. Being like him, I guess. And he went off on tour, and... I dunno. I didn't get better. And here we are. Hospital."
Tracy walked in. "I'm so sorry to intrude... Gus is crying like hell out there."
"I wanna see him."
"Okay, I'll bring him in."
"No... I wanna walk out."
Liza furrowed her brow. "You have an IV in."
"It's on a cart thing," Tracy said. "She can do it."
"If she can walk."
"She's Leia. She can."
I swung my legs over the side of the bed and stood up. As I took a step, I started to fall. Tracy raced forward and caught me. "I can't..."
"Yes, you can."
I leaned on him and started taking small steps as he supported me. Liza pushed the IV cart. We eventually reached the waiting room. Gus was hunched over, shoulders shaking, sobbing silently. "Gus." I called out.
He looked up. "L-Leia... Baby." He ran over to me, pulling me into a hug.
I rested all my weight on him. "Gus, I'm okay, I'm okay."
"I know." He kissed my hair. "I was just scared."
"I'm sorry."
"No apologizing. Let's get you back into bed. You look like hell, baby."
