The silent treatment that Bella was giving Maggie went on for weeks. No matter what she did, Maggie couldn't get Bella to talk to her. In the morning, she left without a word leaving Charlie or Jacob to take Maggie to school despite her father's scoldings. After school, Bella would drive to the station and stay with Charlie until she came home and even then would just march up to her room where she resides for the evening. Maggie didn't know if Bella was even eating.

Charlie grew tired of the silence between his two daughters and decided it was time to do something about.

At dinner one night, a rare night where Bella joined them, Charlie cleared his throat to grab the girls' attention. "I can't stand the two of you not talking anymore. You two are sisters, you love each other. You're supposed to be, ya know, talking to each other."

The two girls exchanged a glance, the most communication they've done in weeks.

"What happened? Is there something we need to talk about? Or-or something that needs a moderator? Because I can be that. I'm a great listener. Despite what your mother has said in the past." Charlie muttered that last part under his breath before eating a peace of ham.

Neither girl said anything. Charlie was a little agitated now.

"Damnit, I want my daughters back! This table shouldn't be quiet every damn night! Now someone, please, pipe up and tell me what's going on?!" Charlie demanded.

Maggie looked down at her hands. She wanted Bella to speak up first because in her eyes, Bella's selfishness was what caused the rift between the two. Bella was the one who put the family at risk for her own gain, whether it was on purpose or not.

Bella wanted Maggie to speak up first so she could take accountability for once in her life. She felt that Maggie's nagging and nosiness in everything was why Bella shut off from the world.

Of course, neither girl could tell the whole truth because, well, vampire secrets.

"I'm upset with Maggie." Bella finally said.

It wasn't what Maggie wanted to hear but at least the silence was broken. "What do you mean?" Maggie replied.

"You're always in my business. Your nose never stays away from my life! I always have to tiptoe around you because it's like having a bloodhound always on alert. I can't have my own personal life without you being there to muddle in it!" Bella was gradually getting louder with every sentence. Maggie couldn't believe what she was hearing.

"This is my fault?! You want to give away your family for some stupid boy that you barely know! You lied to all of us and left us here. But you still can't accept responsibility for that and then shut me out instead of taking the blame!" Maggie retorted, her hands doing a lot of the talking as well.

"Maybe that's what I want for the rest of my life, Maggie. A life with Edward!" Bella shouted.

"Have fun never seeing your family again or being invited over for dinner 'cause that ship will sail the minute you leave us for him!" Maggie shouted back.

The two began shouting at each other across the table. Nothing they were saying was intelligible to Charlie and if he was being honest with himself, parenting books didn't prepare him for something like this. So Charlie sat there and let the conversations take their course.
