Chapter 5 // awkward

I waited for jack in front of the school. He took about 10 minutes.

"Hey." He said.

"Hi."

It was kinda awkward walking to his house. We didn't talk. The other jack and sammy were walking in front of us turning around every once in a while to 'check' on us.

Me and jack went to his house and the other jack and sammy went to mine. I didn't want them around anyways. We got to his house and his mom was there.

"Mom I have a friend over to work on a project."

"Okay where's jack?"

"With Sam, mom."

"Ok go work on your project I'll order some pizza."

I just walked upstairs and looked for jacks room while he talked to him mom.

I heard footsteps.

"My mom wants to meet you." Jack whispered.

"Um ok."

I walked downstairs and almost tripped.

I laughed at myself.

"You ok?" Jack looked at me and laughed.

"Yeah." I said still laughing.

I went towards his mom in the kitchen.

"Hi I'm Theresa." I held out my hand.

She looked at jack and smiled.

Then shook my hand.

"You can call me Mrs.Gilinsky or Mrs.G, either ones fine."

"Ok." I smiled.

She's so nice.

We went to his room and I just sat there.

"This is awkward." He said and sat next to me.

It really wasn't.

I admired the decorations around his room. Posters everywhere. Mostly models. Just like Sam.

We worked on the project for about a hour and ate some pizza.

Only 2 pages done. 3 more to go. I decided to take a break.

"I'm tired." I said and laid on jacks bed, looking at the ceiling.

"Want to take a break?"

"I mean I guess."

"What you want to do?"

I like how jack always listens to me. He pays attention when I'm talking to him. My old friends in California didn't really listen. Well their all girls so idk what to expect.

I had only one guy friend. He helped me through everything. When I got bullied he stood up to Sam for me. He cared about me..

I use to have a crush on him but I moved and figured we wouldn't ever see each other again. We text and stuff but it's not the same.

His name was Matthew..

"Just get to know each other more."

"Ok... What's your favorite color?"

"Really jack?"

"Fine. Fine. What's your favorite movie?"

"Frozen." I mumbled.

"You want to watch it right now?" Jack asked.

why does he have frozen?

"You have it?" I laughed.

"Who doesn't?!" He got up from his chair and went to his xbox.

I laughed at him.

I sat up so I was comfortable and jack laid next to me. He got a blanket. I didn't want to sit to close because I didn't know what he would do. But he scooted closer so I went with it. I leaned my head on his shoulder.

I started to fall asleep. Then I got a phone call. It scared both of us.

It was my mom.

"Hello?"

"THERESA WHERE ARE YOU!!? I TEXTED YOU MORE THAN 10 TIMES."

"Sam didn't tell you?"

"Tell me what?!"

"I'm at jacks house working on a project."

"Come home now." And she hung up.

"I'm sorry jack I got to go." I stood up and stretched my arms.

"It's ok." Jack was leaning towards me.

I backed away.

"What are you doing?"

"Getting your hoodie." He chuckled. And reached for my hoodie behind me.

"Oh." I felt so embarrassed.

He walked me home and we were standing in front of the house.

"Ill see you tomorrow." He said and gave me a hug. His cologne smells so good.

"By-"

Sam opened the door.

"Bye jack." Sam said with anger in his voice. Wtf was his problem. Jack looked confused.

"Bye?" He said and walked home.
