chapter 26 // sweet

it turns out magcon was actually in Washington and Matt really came to Omaha to see me and his friends.
our flight was in 3 hours. I woke up and did all the normal morning stuff. I texted Matt.

T - goodmorning.

M - hey lil mama 😏

T - our flight leaves in 3 hours

M - ok I'll pick you up at 12

T - ok babe

I left my phone on my desk and checked my luggage. I walked downstairs and my mom was in the kitchen.

"hi mom." I said and gave her a hug.

"I'm gonna miss you." she fixed my hair.

"it's only for 3 days. you and dad have work stuff all the time. you should be use to things like this." I grabbed a bowl and some cinnamon toast crunch.

"I know honey. me and your father have to tell you something." she sat down.

"is it good or bad?" I took a bite of cereal.

"you know what, we can discuss this when you get back from Washington. it's no big deal." she was messing with her nail polish.

"oh ok mom. well matts gonna pick me up at 12. we can go spend some time together?" since my mom was already dressed to go out and I had time, I thought we should spend more time together. since we barely do.

we decided to go get our nails done and shop for a little.

we sat next to each other while getting our nails done. "so anything going on with Matthew?" she smiled. "he's a really nice boy."

oh fuck she doesn't know that we're dating, she hasn't been around.

"yeah... we're kind of dating." I awkwardly said.

"oh that's great, honey! he's a great boy." she had the biggest smile on her face.

our nails took about an hour and a half so we made a quick stop at Starbucks.

we both got home, Starbucks in both our hands.

we were laughing about something, I don't remember what.

"it's almost time for your flight." mom said and hugged me. "I'm gonna miss you." she hugged me tighter.

"it's only like a week. I'm not leaving forever." she laughed.

someone knocked. I opened it and Matt was there. he had flowers in his hand. I looked at him confused.

he walked inside, ignoring me.

"these are for you." he said and handed my Mom the flowers.

"Aw Matthew how sweet of you! I'll put these in some water." she had the biggest smile on her face.

"you ready to go?" he came to me.

"yeah my stuff is in the living room." I started walking when he stopped me.

"NO! I'll get it." he laughed.

"he's a really sweet boy." my mom placed the flowers in a vase.

"yeahhh." I smiled.

"let's go." Matt said with my suit cases in his hands.

"bye mom. i'll text you when we land."

"ok honey." she gave me and Matt hugs, and also thanked him for the flowers.

we arrived at the airport, meeting some of the guys there. we all talked for a while when our flight was called.
we boarded the plane and I put my headphones in.

I started to doze off when I felt something touch my thigh.
I opened one eye and saw matts hand there. he slowly tried to move it closer towards my area when I pushed his hand away.

"not today Espinosa." he grabbed my hand and mad a puppy face. I shook my head and giggled.
