chapter 24 // chill

"are you sure?" I asked.

"DYLAN!" he yelled. it echoed through the house. nobody responded.

"we're good." he said taking Emily and putting her down.

"come on babygirl." he said and grabbed my hand, leading me up the stairs. he laid in his bed and patted the spot next to him, telling me to sit.

"Matt...?"

"mhmm." he said messing with my hair.

"what really happened with you and my brother?"

"what do you want to know?" he sat next to me.

"the reason why he hates you so much." I mumbled.

"oh... remember when he dated that girl stassie?" I nodded. "well we hooked up a couple times and I knew they were together. when he actually found out... she told him that she loved me more than him. he was so pissed he came at me. throwing punches. I fell and he wouldn't get off me. saying everything was my fault. that we weren't friends anymore and to never talk to him again." his tone changed.

"well... did anything change after that?"

  "yeah. before you guys moved and I came to visit you he wouldn't even look a me. he hasn't said a word to me since the first day I came to Omaha. I've been trying to fix this for years now, but nothing works."

"Matt.." he looked up at me.

"don't worry, one day you'll both forget about this and be closer than you were before. never let a girl tear you or your friends apart." i gave him a kiss.

"theresa... I've been wanting to ask you something for a while now. will you be my girlfriend??"

"Matthew.. your gonna leave in less than 2 months and who knows when you'll be ba-"

"don't worry. I'll always be here when you need me." he pushed a strand of hair behind my ear.

"will you?" I nodded and pulled him into a hug. his hugs always gave me this feeling, I felt safe in his arms.

"you don't know how long I've been wanting to ask you that." he laughed.

"I'm glad you did." I smiled and gave him a kiss.

he started to deepen the kiss and I went along with it. he started to lightly push my shoulder down. I started to panic and pulled away from the kiss.

"did I do something wrong?" he had a worried look on his face.

I shook my head.

"we just got together today. and I don't want to get too carried away..."

"yeah I understand." he held my hand.

"tell me when you're comfortable. I'll wait." he kissed my forehead.
