She threw up the contents of her stomach on the floor of the precinct. Jane didn't stop, a few moments of gagging before a mixture of red and blue started pouring out. It took a handful of minutes until she fell on her side clawing at the floor. With one arm she gripped her stomach between winces it tended up. The other wanted to force her upwards.

5 of them came in dressed in crisp white suits.

The officers pulled their guns at them, obviously, they knew who they were. Someone higher up told them what the signs were. No, there was something she could do to prevent more deaths.

Was it worth it?

Suddenly the lights, cameras, everything electronic turned off momentarily. Jane and the liquid on the floor disappeared and in its place was a dark suited person with a mask on. A circle of blue caused the stranger to disappear just as the lights came back on. The person seemingly leaped from the ceiling and landed closer than before with a glowing scythe. Intimidation was the demeanor of the mysterious vigilante. The men in white fired at the person. Light lightning struck, the masked stranger knocked them off balance. Tapping their foot like a metronome against the floor before grabbing one of the men and tossing them to a wall and swiveling around to kick another down. They used the scythe not as a weapon but as a tool to balance than to cause damage directly. Snapping the attackers weapons like stick, the stranger loomed over the zone of white suited men now beaten to the ground.

The vigilante spoke with a voice modifier just before vanishing again with a few flicks of light."Your friend is ok, she already headed home after taking a cab back to her place."

Jane sat on top of the roof of her apartment after changing. Figuring it was best to not go out again that night, she couldn't help but to think what was really injected into her. Was it just a coincidence that Phantom held the attack and they spotted her? What is their reason to be in New York? Why was puppeteer sent in first then only 5 others? Jane shivered from the cold despite having multiple layers and headed back inside.

The night when the people she trusted died because of her. The night when Phantom dragged her back to confinement in that lab. The night when she learned to never trust.

Jane couldn't change the past but maybe next time she could do something about it. It was the reason why she kept fighting. There was nothing more important than trust in her life before then, now it was fighting for those who couldn't stand by her side anymore.

She looked at the locked door the was supposed to lead to her cubicle. With the silver case in one hand, Jane took the note off the door to re-examine. Sighing after pasting the note back to the door, Jane felt her energy curl up inside of her. Before she knew it the florescent blue lines appeared on her sin. Startled by their appearances, she rushed to a nearby ladies room. Looking in the mirror Jane could see the files ends of her horns sticking out of her hair that wasn't there that morning. She jumped at the sound of the door swinging open. Scrambling quickly to lock herself in a stall, there was a voice.

"Having problems?" A cold chill went up her spine. The sharp tone, no, Jane killed her. "If you're having a bad hair day then let a true lady handle the situation and come on out." The woman purred.

Jane's hand went to the lock but hesitated. She was a sheep caught in a corner by a wolf. If she was wrong, well, the odd stumps would alarm anyone and attacking them wouldn't help her case. The door started to move as a timid look came across her face.

"Did quite a number on my personal project 382." She was holding a gun modified with a silencer. "You have your little pet to get back to so I'll make this quick.."

She wasn't scared, not this time. Jane walked up and looked her in the eyes with confidence. "I'm protecting my team by staying away. You are not the reason why I separate myself."
