Chapter 12: new project

Two weeks had passed since our mission and Dino was busy with missions and as far I could tell, he was frustrated. One, cause Mearing, kept giving him more work, and two because he wanted to spend time with me.

I sat now in the meeting room, Lennox asked me to join. Dino walked in and I don't overreact if I say I was shocked. He was pale, and his once spirit full eyes were now dull, I saw blue underneath his eyes, his hair was a mess and dull, and just his whole attitude showed how tired he was, and that's saying something, Autobots don't need that much sleep as we humans do.

I wanted to drag him with him and lay in bed with him, holding him, but I knew I couldn't do that. He sank down on the chair and placed some files he brought in front of him. "Good to see you!" He said with a hint of relieving knee his voice.

I smiled weakly "I'm sorry... I didn't mean to neglect you!" He sighed. "Don't feel sorry!" I stated while rubbing his arm in a friendly manner. For a moment he laid his hand on mine and seemed to calm down.

I hadn't seen him for almost a week, and I was more than shocked. I didn't have any words, I was so worried and angry Mearing did this to him. "Stai bene?" I asked I learned some Italian and I saw his eyes brightened up a little.

"I'm fine... thanks," he said. "I like it if you talk in Italian," he said with a big smile. We locked our eyes while Lennox walked in, followed by Mearing, a man named Galloway, Optimus, Ironhide, and Epps.

They sat down at the table and I was curious why I was here. Dino lifted his head and sat up straight, forcing himself to listen to what the leaders had to say.

"Have you finished?" Mearing asked. Dino nodded and shove the files her way. "Good!" She said briefly before she started about another mission, and I literally saw Dino's world collapsing.

"Yes ma'am," he finally said, it was forced through. I had to do something, I couldn't just let this go. I sucked in a breath and found the courage to speak. "With all due respect ma'am... But Dino has something else to do," I said. The eyes were pointed on me and Ironhide leaned back with an amused faced.

Dino looked at me with confusion "really!? What's more important than this?" Galloway sneered. I tilted my head and tried to sound confident, cause I had no idea what I was going to answer. "Sideswipe asked me... to ask Dino, to help me with something really important, and Sideswipe told me he needed Dino's help! Cause he's the only spy," I said.

Mearing frowned "sideswipe asked you to ask Mirage? Why didn't he ask him?" She asked while crossing her arms. "Cause... I bumped into him! And he had a rush, his brother had some... things he wanted to do with Sideswipe and it was urgent! But it can wait... guess I've to disappoint him," I sighed.

Mearing narrowed her eyes while Lennox, Ironhide, and Optimus showed some amusement. "How long will it take?" She growled finally. "I'm not sure, a couple of days maybe a week," I replied. She groaned and looked at Optimus.

"I trust my warriors if Sideswipe asked for Mirage than it's important," he replied. "Fine! I'll give you four days!" She grunted, waving Mirage away. The mech gave a nod and looked at me, holding a weak smirk.

Mearing looked at Mirage "you can leave now! I wanna have a word with Cassiopeia!" She said. Mirage slowly got up "stasera?!" He asked. He had used that word before, it meant 'tonight'. "Sì," I softly replied.

Dino left without saying anything else. Nervously I looked at Mearing. "You're getting closer with Mirage," she noticed. "Yes ma'am," I replied sheepishly. "We have looked through your file... and it turned out your family of someone on our wanted list," she said.

I flinched and looked sadly at the ground "we will give Mirage that mission! Wanna tell us things we need to know?" She asked. I met her eyes again "she's... dangerous, a lot of allies, and she's looking for me, she almost killed me and I'm sure she will try it again!" I replied sadly.

"Did you tell Mirage?" Ironhide asked. I shook my head "no! I told him I would tell him... I just hadn't found the right time to tell him,"

"well maybe it gets time to tell him! We wanna use you as bait," Galloway said.

I felt fear taking over and Optimus obviously noticed. "We wanted to ask you if you want to help us catch her!" He corrected. "Look... I know she's at the top of the FBI wanted list... but I really fear her, she works with the Decepticons," I said sheepishly.

"We didn't know that," Optimus said seriously. It surprised me "it's a long story how she kidnapped me, but she did and gave me to Shockwave, they have experimented on me," I said. Optimus gave me a worried look "what did they do?" He asked.

"I'm not sure, I was most of the time unconscious, I only remember I escaped one day, I tried to keep a low profile and well... I stayed away from everyone as much as possible," I replied.

"So you have no idea what they did to your body?" Ironhide asked stunned. "Indeed, I thought, if I die then so be it, I actually brushed it off," I replied. "Maybe Ratchet needs to check you up to see if he can figure out what happened to your body," Optimus stated.

I nodded "but we will use you as bait! After you talked to Mirage... so I give you two days to inform him or otherwise we will!" Mearing stated while Galloway nodded in agreement.

I now understand why Mirage hated Mearing so much "yes ma'am," I said in submission. She waved me away, so I got up and left. I stalked through the halls and sat down in the training room.

"Thank you! For helping me out back there,"

I looked up and smiled weakly while Mirage slowly approached and sat down next to me. "Are you okay!? You look upset," he said. "Yeah... I'm fine," I said confidently, but Mirage didn't believe me of course. "You're so tired," I said. He sighed and rubbed his face "yeah... every muscle in my body is protesting, I just wanna sleep," he sighed. "Than why don't you go to sleep!?" I asked.

"Cause I've work to do!" He sulked. I sternly looked at him "you've done enough, Mirage! You need to sleep! I know you're supposed to give me orders but I hate to see you so exhausted! Please... go to bed!" I said.

He rolled his eyes but got up and stalked over to the door, almost hitting the wall. I got up as well and followed him, "come," I said, leading him through the halls.

I stopped for his door "I see you during dinner," he sighed. "No, you need your rest! I'll be fine!" I said. Mirage looked at me "fine! Tomorrow then?" He asked. I nodded and stepped back. "Good night," I said. He yawned and nodded "yeah! Don't worry about me!" He said. I smiled "bye Mirage," I said.

"Bye Cassiopeia!"
