The things they said

She was young and innocent,
oblivious to pain.
She was filled with hope,
and purity, with no stain.
When she looked at others,
all she saw was goodness.
She ate up their lies,
and fell for their fake smiles.

And then she grew up,
and faced reality,
the contentment was gone,
replaced by scarcity.
She looked at the people,
that she once thought were nice.
and saw all the evil,
hidden behind their eyes.

They told her everything
she didn't want to hear.
They kept on repeating,
'till it all became clear.
You are not good enough,
You're too this, you're too that.
They made her quit her dreams,
now it's too late to restart.
