Chapter 12

Why doesn't she love me? Am I that ugly? Not possible. Women swoon over me wherever I go. So what is it then? Trenton thinks of all the possible reasons why Paisley doesn't love him.

Then it hits him like a tsunami: she is still in love with that idiot,Danté. "Ugh!" He groans and the door of his office swings open and he sees his twin brother, Terius.

"What do you want?" He asks him. Terius frowns and goes to sit on the chair opposite his brother. "I came to tell you, brother that there are few people here who have come to interview for the jobs."

Shit! I completely forgot about that. He face palms himself. Terius laughs and it sound like a nail being scratched on a chalkboard. Trenton has never liked him. They might be twins but they are so different.

Terius is good and Trenton is bad. Terius is a doctor and Trenton is a gangster. Terius is gay and Trenton is straight. "Get out and tell them that they got the jobs." Terius nods and walks out of the office.

He goes up to the people who were supposed to be interviewed but his idiotic brother doesn't seem to mind that he could be hiring psychopaths. "You are all hired." They all smile. Some even hug each other.

He calls James, his brother's right hand man who shows them their work stations. Terius goes up to her room.

He unlocks it and sees her staring out of the window. She turns around when she sees him. "What are you doing here?" She asks with venom dripping off every word she says.

He sighs and goes up to her. "I'm sorry." She rolls her eyes and stares back at the window like it's the most interesting thing in the world. "Please. Forgive me. I said I'm sorry." "Just because you said I'm sorry won't make me forgive you." She says,trying to keep her anger under control.

"I know what it looks like: I befriended you so that my psychotic brother can kidnap you and use you as bait to get what he wants. It's really not." He says,feeling ashamed of himself.

"That's exactly what it looks like!" She shouts at him. He flinches at the sound of her voice. He sighs and sits next to her on the window seat. "Look at me,Paisley." She forces herself to look at him and she feels like she wants vomit.

She swallows it and glares at him,letting him know that he is not forgiven just yet. "Talk." "Thanks. My brother forced me to take the job at the hospital." He starts.

She sits upright so she can hear him properly. "He said if I didn't then he would hurt my boyfriend,Mario." She nods and he continues. "I befriended you do that I could earn your trust so  that when we went somewhere you wouldn't get suspicious of my motives."

"You're a grown man who gets told what to do by your brother. You must a grow a pair!" "I know and I'm so sorry. I wish there was a way to make it up to you."

As soon as those words came out from his mouth and idea pops in her head. "There is a way..." She says. He looks at her suspiciously and asks, "What is going on that head of yours?" "I was thinking that you could..." "I could?" "You could help me escape." She says before biting her lip nervously.

"WHAT!?" "Yeah. If you do that I'll make you my new best friend." "I would love to be your new best friend but if you didn't know,my brother is a psycho!" She sighs and says,"So I guess you don't want to be forgiven?" "Don't you dare use emotional blackmail on me." He says.

"Please?" She pouts and he sighs. "Fine." "Yes!" "But...I can't help you. I know someone who can." She furrows her eyebrows in confusion. "What does that mean?"

"There's a guy who can help you get out of this hellhole." She smiles at him and hugs him, a friendly hug. "So am I your new best friend?" He asks unsure if this is the right time or not.

"You are on the path of being." She says. He smiles at her. She is a really nice person. I shouldn't have listened to Trenton. He thinks. He steps out of the room and leaves her lost in her thoughts.

She sighs and gets up to go and change into her PJs. The door swings open and reveals Trenton. She groans at him. "Hi,love." He says. "You're awfully cheery today."

"It's all because of you." "Me?" "Yes." "Why?" "Your fiancée has agreed to meet up with me to discuss business." Her eyes widen at the mention of Danté. "Oh,yes. He will be coming over next week."

Her heart flutters at the thought of seeing him again. "You need to get a beautiful dress to wear so that I can show you off to him."

He says before leaving the room. For the first time since she has been here she is happy. I'm going to see Danté! Yes! She thinks to herself. She quickly changes and goes to the window seat. It's become her bed.

It's the only thing that's been her ray of hope. I have to tell Terius that our plan will be cancelled because Danté is coming next week and he is coming to save me.

She sees a shooting star and closes her eyes and wishes that she will get to her Danté again. Soon. She goes to bed smiling.

"I'll see you next week." He says. "Bye Danté." He drops the phone call. "Cheer up,bro. We are going to get Paisley next week." Cody says to him. "I know. It's just that I'm wondering if he has hurt her or not."

"I know. If he did I'll the the first one to volunteer to shoot him." Cody says and Danté laughs. My baby girl is coming home soon. He thinks. He sighs and Cody walks out of the room.

He sits there for a couple of minutes. He stands up to stretch his legs and that's when he sees a shooting star. He closes his eyes and wishes that his Paisley will be back safe in his arms again.

He opens his eyes and goes upstairs to change and sleep. He takes off his watch and clothes. He is left in his boxers.

He gets into bed and covers himself with covers and drifts off to sleep. For the first time since she has been taken away from him.
