Eveline's childhood

"la la la... la la la laaaa," A small younger Eveline was playing on a swing. She was singing a melody that was stuck in her head, her soft melodic voice rung out over the playground.

"Eveline It's MY turn on the swing!" Beverly said stubbornly arms crossed standing next to the swing set pouting. "There is another swing!" Eveline called out nicely as she continued to go back and forwards, the breeze tickling her nose.

"MUM EVELINE ISN'T LETTING ME ON THE SWING!" Beverly screamed out to where Myra was sitting on a bench scrolling through her phone. "Eveline get off the swing set and learn to share!" Myra called back without even glancing at the playground. Eveline sighed but slowed down and got off the swing.

"Next time I shouldn't need to ask mum!" Beverly said and shoved Eveline in the back causing her to fall on her knees and hands grazing them in the bark.

Tears filled Eveline's eyes from the pain. "Are you ok?" Luis asked Eveline as he helped her get up. "I'll be ok," Eveline stuttered and walked over to the grass and sat down dusting herself off and noticed a few cuts that were starting to bleed. She sat there watching Beverly swing on the swing like she was Queen of the world.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

"No...No.... NOOOO!!!!" Eveline let out a petrified scream. "I can't be back here no no no!" She swung back and forth in emotional shock. Eveline's head couldn't think straight and her heart was racing with her palms sweating.

"I can't be back here, angels no. PLEASE ANGELS NO!" Eveline screamed again letting tears stream out her eyes. She couldn't contain herself. Her right arm was handcuffed to the bed and the key was nowhere in sight.

Eveline looked up to the roof and just wanted to scream. She wanted to die, she hated this hell hole and being back here was so so much worse than hell in general. SHE WOULD RATHER BE WITH THE DEVIL HIMSELF, well Lukes dad that is.

Traumatic memories surfaced as she relived the times she had been beaten over and over in her head. It drove her insane as she covered her ears and screamed into her pillow. Her head was pounding from her hangover and she felt sick.

Eveline couldn't remember much from last night. She remembered the big fight she had with Luke and how everyone was in danger because of her. She remembered screaming at Isabel for help and Isabel ignoring her.

Then the creep... WAIT?! What did happen? How did Eveline end up here? The creep couldn't possibly have known where she lived. The thoughts spun around Eveline and confused her even more.

Suddenly Eveline's door creaked open. Eveline looked over at it scared of who could walk in. "Eveline my god!" Luis shut the door behind him then ran up to her giving her a big hug.

"I was worried you weren't going to wake up," Eveline wiped the tears from her face quickly and returned the hug from Luis. She had missed him so much. "I thought you went away with that Luke guy? Did he hurt you?"

Luis's face hardened and he looked angry. "He didn't hurt me," Eveline looked down, well not physically he didn't. "How did I end up here?" Luis looked at Eveline confused. "You really don't remember?" Eveline shook her head. It pounded if she tried to remember last night too hard.

"Well, Mum found you on the side of the road when she was on her way back from work. You were just laying there your clothes were riped and you looked terrible so she took you back here," Eveline felt tears rising to her eyes.

She looked to her bedside table to see stacks of food and soup, stuff for a sick person. "How long have I been here?" The whole room had stuff left everywhere from what looked like Luis trying to nurse Eveline back to health.

"One week," He mumbled. "ONE WEEK?!" Eveline's eyes bulged and she sat up higher than felt the pain hit her right wrist. The handcuff was digging into her when she pulled far away from the bed head.

"Careful," Luis handed her an ice-pack which she tried to place on her wrist but the handcuff was making it hard. "Why the handcuff?" Eveline gestured towards the prison weapon.

"It wasn't my Idea, Dad and Mum didn't want you running away again. They figured when you wake up you would run for it," Eveline wasn't denying she probably would have run.

"I'm not going anywhere any time soon," Luis looked at her confused again. "What why? Arent your friends worried about you," Eveline avoided eye contact with Luis. "It's safer if I'm not there,"

Luis moved up closer to Eveline and put his arm around her comfortingly. "What happened?" Eveline shook her head as more tears rolled down her face. She could taste her salty tears. "You wouldn't believe me," Luis handed Eveline the tissue box.

"Try me," Eveline avoided looking at Luis because she knew she looked bad. She didn't want to see the heartbreak in his eyes.

"I'm an Angel and so is Luke. My friends are werewolves, Lycan's to be precise and one Siren. Luke's father is the Devil and he wants me for some reason. These black-eyed things keep following me and then I found out Luke knew them and use to work for them! They threatened that if I don't go with them my friends would die."

Luis looked at Eveline shocked. "Are you sure your ok?" He put a hand up to her hand feeling for her temperature. "I told you that you wouldn't believe me even though that's the truth!"

"I believe you," Luis said bluntly. "See- Wait what?" Eveline looked at Luis surprised. "I believe you. You're an angel right. Well, once I think I saw you with your wings out. I thought it was a dream but clearly it wasn't."

Eveline stared at him with her mouth open like a goldfish. He looked back at her and Eveline stiffened up feeling the blood drain from her body as she looked at Luis for the first time since he came into the room.

He had a black eye and cuts across his face. He looked like he hadn't gotten sleep in ages and his whole face looked worn down. Eveline could see bruises and cuts peeking out from the edge of his shirt.

"Luis..." Eveline kept inspecting him. Luis looked down. "Eveline they weren't happy that you ran. They blamed me," Eveline had more tears streaming down her face than before. "Luis. I'm, I... I am so sorry," Her voice kept cracking and she pulled Luis into a tight hug.

She heard him sniffle and it only made Eveline hug him tighter. She couldn't believe that Peter would do that. Take his anger out on his own son, it enraged Eveline. How dare he touch Luis.

She could feel Luis's trembling as he cried into her shoulder. "I should never have run away I am so sorry. You are never going to have to feel that pain again,"

Eveline held onto him. They were both hurting and both needed a shoulder of comfort right now. "No, Eveline you need to go. I know what it feel's like now you have to run. I cannot let you go through that again," His voice was weak and he kept hiccuping. "No Luis. I'm not going back,"

He pulled out of the hug. "Why not?" Luis lifted Eveline's chin up forcing her to look at him. "Like I said before I'm a danger to them. The black-eyed beings I mentioned before, they threatened that if I didn't go with them someone close to me would die. And I... I just can't-"

Eveline stopped speaking as more tears streamed out her face. She couldn't put up with the pain of being the reason behind someone's death. Giant hiccups stopped her from crying properly and she was having trouble breathing.

"Eveline you need to calm down. You need to breathe and calm down you're working yourself up," Luis stroked Eveline's back gently and talked soothingly.

Eveline started to calm down and tried to think of the positives. She was back with Luis, they could protect each other and that's all that mattered. "Thank you for always being there for me Luis,"
