The day Eveline ran away from home

Peter's roar of fury struck through Luis's ears. "WHERE IS SHE?!" He screamed louder. His eyes bloodshot red and his nostrils flared in anger. "I.. I don't know,"

'THWACK' Peter's fist punched Luis across the face. Blood started rolling out of Luis's nose and he spat out blood pooling in his mouth. Luis clenched his jaw in anger like he was ever going to tell Peter. He was protecting his sister no matter what.

"YOU WERE HERE ALL DAY HOW DID YOU POSSIBLY NOT NOTICE SHE WAS GONE?!" Peter scrunched Luis' shirt lifting him from the ground and threw him across the room onto the floor and collapsed like a ragged doll.

He gasped for air like he had never breathed before "Peter honey calm down," Myra said from the kitchen. She was watching peter beat up Luis just standing there doing nothing but watching her son get beaten. Luis felt more anger for his mum because all she was doing was watching, she made no attempt to stop her husband.

Peter kicked Luis in the gut and Luis let out a muffled grunt of pain. "TELL ME!" He kicked him again harder and Luis curled into a ball trembling.

"I DON'T KNOW WHERE SHE WENT! I WAS IN THE SHOWER THEN WHEN I CAME BACK OUT SHE WAS GONE!" Luis screamed back in Peter's face and he got slapped in return.

No matter how many times Peter kicked him, punched him, cut him or threw him he would never tell the truth. Eveline was finally safe, that's all that mattered, even if he took her place.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

"Eveline, dishes," Myra called out from the living room. For the past 3 months, Eveline had been quiet. She did everything Myra asked of her as she kept to herself, whenever she was yelled at she would stay silent and look at the floor. She felt so weak and she felt like the life in her was slowly wearing her down, the candle inside her slowly flickering down, dying.

Eveline got up from her bed and glanced at the handcuffs sitting on her bedside table. She was forced to be handcuffed to the bed every night so that she wouldn't run away whilst every one was asleep.

Eveline felt this was unnecessary she didn't plan on going anywhere, running away would only endanger Luis and bring danger to her friends.

As Eveline opened the door and began to walk out she was forced to stop by Beverly who was standing in front of her blocking her walkway. Eveline never understood her problem and just walked past her.

Whilst Eveline walked she could hear Beverly follow her down the hall. Her loud hills thumped against the boarded floor. Eveline turned into the kitchen and continued to hear Beverly follow her. When Eveline started running the water Beverly sat down at the bench and watched her wash the dishes.

"Why don't you talk any more," Her tone was short and b*tchy. She did not sound concerned one bit more like she just wanted to know everything. Eveline kept her eyes down doing the dishes.

She only talked to Luis, she felt connected to him and she knew only he cared about what she had to say. "Hello...? Jesus pathetic," Beverly spat out the last word pathetic pronouncing it harshly. "Beverly leave her alone," Luis walked into the room giving his sister a disgusted look and Eveline a gentle smile.

"She won't talk," Beverly said still not taking her eyes off Eveline as she folded her arms suspiciously. Eveline bit her lip holding back what she really wanted to say.

It was officially getting close to Christmas which meant Beverly and Luis were off school. This also meant Eveline had many more chores to do thanks to Beverly being home 24/7.
