It was well after midnight when a car pulled up in front of Christiana's house. You could hear the faint sound of the key turning in the lock. She had returned from the big act safe and sound to her house and wanted to get ready for bed desperately. She was ready to drop. Roberta was probably asleep she thought seeing the house submerged in total darkness. The lights turned on, but it wasn't her who hit the switch.
She sucked in her breath in surprise and held her hand to her heart seeing the red fury in the detective's eyes.
"What are you doing here?" She asked a little scared. "How did you get in?"
"Roberta let me in before she went to bed ..." He explained through clenched teeth.
"Why are you still here?" She asked tentatively.
"Because I need to talk to you about the stunt you pulled back there." He informed her not even trying to hide his anger.
"I did everything agreed upon and more. If you're here to thank me there is no need detective." She said calmly trying to ignore the murderous look on his face, then turned away to place the keys on the little coffee table near the sofa.
But his anger ignited in a second in front of her eyes and he charged her way like a train ready to crush everything that stood in its tracks. He held her by the shoulders his fingers digging into her sensitive silky skin and shook her repeatedly with all his strength.
"I'm not here to thank you Christiana I'm here to murder you for the stunt you pulled." He whispered in a deathly tone. "Were you trying to get yourself killed?"
"Take your hands off of me." She hissed her voice wavering.
"Are you scared?" He asked poisonously and didn't wait for her response. "You should be Christiana. He would have shot you and I am really tempted to strangle you."
Exhaling heavily, Dean let her go. He racked his hands through the golden masses of his hair and dropped them to his side, Christiana's wide eyed gaze following his every move as he paced the floor back and forth looking at his feet.
He abruptly stopped and looked at her holding an accusing finger in the air. "What were you thinking?" He asked, then shook his head in denial. "You weren't thinking at all were you?" He questioned her throwing his hands in haste and desperation. "You weren't thinking that by telling him that you knew this much you could have been murdered on the spot or worse he might have tried to dispose of you like he disposed of your parents. You weren't thinking that this whole investigation is based on the information you might help us accumulate. You weren't thinking..."
A voice in his ear interrupted his chain of thoughts. He placed a hand on the earpiece listening carefully.
"Garcia just turned the curb captain." Julia told him through the ear piece he wore.
"Hurry up and turn off the lights." He snapped at Christiana and she obeyed instantly and the lights went out as suddenly as they were turned on.
"Crouch down." He ordered her in an almost inaudible whisper. "Crawl my way." He said.
She obeyed like an automaton and settled near him on the floor near the couch. He hooked his left hand around her shoulder and drew her to him. His mouth was near her ear as he spoke.
"Garcia is here." He informed her. "Now, there are probably two or three possibilities why he came at this hour of the night. One he is here to kill you. I doubt that." He immediately dismissed the possibility because it wasn't probable and because she was panicking taking small quick breaths. "Matt would have killed you if he wanted to when he got you alone with him at the house or even in the car or at the restaurant or in the alley behind the restaurant and in so many other places. However he could be here to cause an unfortunate accident to occur." He predicted.
