Chapter 10: Eastern Formal
Silvia stood behind me, while Luce and Aribella held my hands.
I began to feel increasingly nervous over the past hour, as I sat in my room facing a beautiful golden-framed vanity. Silvia has been kind enough to offer her expertise in pinning my thin blonde hair into an elegant up-do for the formal. As Silvia finished, I heard Luca perk up with excitement.
“You look incredible, Juliet!” Luce squealed as she squeezed my hand cradled in hers.
She was the one who looked incredible. Luce had on a deep hunter-green gown, with intertwining ruffles lining along the bottom of the skirt; the shape reminded me of the delicate vines in Cecilia’s garden. Also, the colour complimented Luca’s creamy completion astonishingly well. I smiled; I knew Hunter would be knocked off his feet the moment he saw her.
We had about a half-hour before the formal would begin, and I could already hear the guest’s limo’s filing into the mansion’s courtyard.
Aribella tugged on my hand and smiled shyly.
“I like you, Juliet,” she whispered, and tugged on the sleeve of her baby blue dress.
I couldn’t help but feel a smile crack onto my lips. I’d felt honored that she’d wanted to come and sit with me while I finished getting ready. If I had ever had a younger sister, I probably would’ve hoped for someone like Aribella. Though, every-time she looked up at me with adoring eyes, I felt my stomach tangle in uncomfortable knots. I didn’t deserve to be looked up to in the slightest.
“I like you too, Ari.” I poked her stomach lightly and she giggled quietly. She’d asked me to call her by the same nickname Everett had used. Before I could get lost in my own thoughts once again, I felt Silvia place her strong hands on my shoulders.
“All done! Now, go get yourself dressed, Little Miss!” She sang excitedly as she nudged me out of the chair. I would have to find a way to thank Silvia for offering to help me get ready; if I were on my own, I probably would’ve skipped downstairs in a simple ponytail hairstyle.
Unfortunately, I hardly took the chance to look at myself in the mirror. Though, I know I didn’t have to; whatever Silvia had done would look marvellous.
I took a breath and hurried into my walk-in closet where Lynn’s designer grey gown hung; it was just as stunning as I remembered it to be.
Everett Tucker
I straightened out the cuffs of my suit jacket, as Hunter strolled into my study and propped himself against the doorframe.
“Looking sharp, Alpha,” Hunter spoke up and smirked. He gestured toward my crisp black tux and I laughed quietly; I was never really one for wearing formal attire.
