I sighed due to exhausion. I was not really in the mood to talk to anyone. So when I saw Karan, I just looked away from him, trying to show that I was not interested.

He walked towards me and asked curiously, "Are you leaving?"

"Yes!" I spat.

He didn't look convinced. So he asked again, "Why are you leaving?"

I huffed and said softly, "Karan. I'm tired. I don't wanna talk about it. Just leave me alone."

I turned on my heels and started walking ahead. But then I heard him ask, "Where are you going?"

I stopped midway. Damn. I hadn't thought of that myself. Where was I heading to? I swallowed uneasily and replied as bravely as I could, "I'm going back home."

Karan stood in front of me and asked, "How are you going home?"

I looked down at my feet. I just stomped from the hotel room with anger but I hadn't planned anything. I had no freaking idea about how I would reach home. I shrugged like an idiot and mumbled, "I don't know."

I heard Karan sigh slowly, but then he asked, "Is it really urgent? Do you really wanna go now?"

I looked up to him and nodded. I replied, "I have to leave this city. I don't wanna stay here any longer."

Karan sighed again and spoke, "Come on. I'll take you to the bus station."

He took the suitcase I was holding from my fingers and started strolling it as he walked ahead. I walked behind him like a puppy. He caught us a cab and in about 30 minutes, we were in a bus station.

The streetlights were pretty dim in there. There were many huge buses waiting or parking there. The place was not really crowded, but there were quite a few families and youngsters.

Karan walked till one of the benches in the side and said, "Sit here. I'll buy you a ticket."

"You don't have to..."

But he cut me by saying, "Its fine. Just sit down. I'll be back in a few."

He didn't even wait for my response. He walked towards the ticket counter and enquired the guy sitting there. I sat on the bench and thought about what had happened back in my room.

'My life was better off without you!'

That hurt me so much. Even though he said he didn't mean it, the damage was done. I wish I hadn't met him at all. I wish he hadn't been Gauri's neighbour. I just wish... Things didn't end up this way.

Soon, I felt someone pat my shoulder and sit next to me. I looked straight at Karan, who handed me my ticket and said, "Here. The bus leaves in at 1 o'clock. So we gotta wait a little bit."

"Okay." I filled in. Shit. 1 hour with this guy sitting next to me! That was tough.

He cleared his throat and said, "Now that I got you here and I bought you a ticket, shouldn't you tell me why you're leaving suddenly?"

I narrowed my eyes at him, to which he chuckled lightly and said, "I don't know if you've noticed, but I'm smart. That's why I'm an engineer."

He laughed and I rolled my eyes playfully. I snapped, "Shouldn't you be smart at engineering instead of psychology?"

Karan laughed but then asked seriously, "Okay fine. As a friend, tell me what's wrong?"

That's when, I broke all the walls I had and told him everything. Everything meaning, from our college days till the pathetic fight. Karan listened to me very patiently. And surprisingly, I didn't cry.
