Dragon Academy

Chapter 4 - First Adventure

As they wondered deeper into the woods, the girls got lost in all the fascinating things they had stumbled across.
More and more things had caught their eyes. They had hiked up the dirt path for a while, when they stopped, something was following them..

     "Did you hear that?" Shelby whispered. "Yeah.." Tyler looked up at her, her eyes wide with fear.
     "Who's there?" Shelby snapped "Come out!".
     A growl emerged from the bushes. Something was definitely there. And it was big.

     The girls stayed quiet, looking at the bushes ahead of them.
     Sticks broke as it moved closer. The growl got louder and lower. It was a deep growl, it was a big dragon.

     A black shape broke from the bushes and ran at the girls. They screamed, Tyler hid behind Shelby, and Shelby closed her eyes, preparing for impact... nothing.

     Shelby slowly opened her eyes and looked forward. A large, black, four legged dragon stood in front of them. It's blue eyes were glowing brightly.
     She nudged Tyler "You're good at this, what type is it?" She mumbled. Tyler looked up and her eyes widened "Nightfury, a rare species. Adult male.." Tyler looked up at Shelby.
     "He seems nice.."
     "Yeah.. he does!"
     "I'm going up to it.." Tyler slowly stepped forward, reaching out her hand slowly.
     The dragon smelled her hand, then looked at Shelby. "Let him smell you, it helps him get to know you better!" Tyler smiled. Shelby reaches out her hand, trying not to frighten or anger the large beast. The dragon smelled her hand, then licked it, nuzzling her.
     "Uhmmm.."
     "That means he likes you!" Tyler said.
     "Yeah, nice.." Shelby mumbled "I'm ready to go back now!"
     The dragon looked up at her, it's blue eyes shining. It jumped and ran under Shelby, throwing her on its back. It then turned towards Tyler. It picked her up by her leg and threw her on its back. It jumped up again and ran back down the path. He was fast and determined.

     He stopped at the camp center, Shelby quickly jumped off.
     "I am NEVER doing that again!" She screamed.
     "Sure you aren't~!" Tyler teased as she climbed down from its back.

     "Oh girls!" J.J. walked towards them "I see you have met Spencer!".
     "Who?" Shelby asked curiously.
     "The dragon!" J.J. smiled "His name is Spencer!".
     "Ohh! Uhhh.." Shelby paused "How often will I see him?".
     "Well, it seems he has taken a like to you, so quite often!" J.J. replied.
     Shelby smiled, Tyler knew she liked the dragon.
