Chapter 9 - Is it Following Us?

The next day, the four walked deeper into the trees, looking for camp. They were hearing all sorts of noises. All from stick breaking and wind blowing to growls and snarls in the bushes nearby.

"Is it still following us?" Shawn asked. He sat up on RedWood's back to look around.
"I guess so.." Shelby answered, still keeping her eyes any for any sign of human life.
"Whatever..doesn't scare me.." Shawn mumbled. A large crack split through the air. Shawn screamed and wrapped his arms around RedWood.

Both of them looked around frantically for the cause of the noise. Nothing was there. They kept walking and about the time the sun started going down, they decided to set up camp again. Suddenly a large stick broke in the bushes behind them. Spencer snarled and dove into the bushes, aggressively. The others could only watch.

"Spencer?!" Shelby hollered. Spencer jumped out from she bushes and ran behind Shelby. "What was it?" She mumbled.

They all four watched as the bushes started to shake. Tyler emerged from the leaves.
"Tyler!" Shelby hollered and ran straight for her, hugging her tightly. "What are you doing out here?!" She snapped with confusion and concern.
"It's a long story.." Tyler chuckled.
"Well you can tell us the story after we set up camp for the night" Shawn retorted.

After setting up camp they all rested in the grass. Shawn and RedWood, Shelby and Spencer, and Tyler by herself off to the side.

"Well Tyler, how did you find us?" Shaw asked, his face illuminated by the flames of the burning fire in front of him.
"Well when I saw you and Shelby go into the forest, I decided I would see what was going on. But by the time I got up to where you guys were, you had already started to walk away. So I followed you!" Tyler took a breath and continued "I followed you guys for a while and couldn't keep up because I was on foot and you two had your dragons. It's a miracle I caught up!" She smiled.
"Oh, Tyler! You shouldn't have followed us! Now we are all lost!" Shelby snapped.
"We can surely find our way back tomorrow, right?" Tyler asked.
Shelby and Shawn looked at each other.. neither of them answered the question.
"Well, good night!" Shawn said, falling asleep with RedWood. Spencer fell asleep as well. Shelby looked over at Tyler, who was looking at the fire, she looked lonely.
Shelby chuckled "Cmon, come over here..".
Tyler jumped up and walked over to them, using Spencer's wing as a blanket. They slept good that night.
