{5:02 pm} KAIDEN AND MY SISTER ENTER the living room and they plop down beside each other on the couch. I sigh inaudibly as I pinch the bridge the of my nose. 'Why did this lady just ask me over the phone if I'm Lily Towers' father? My name is on her birth certificate under the father column and Nikki personally requested Lily comes to me if something happens to her. Wait, what happened to Nikki?' "Yes ma'am, I am Lily Towers' father," I reply into the phone. "What happened to her mom?"

"It's a long story to recite on the phone, sir," this lady answers. "I just need to know your residence. I'll bring Lily there and explain it all to you when I get there."

I sigh heavily. "Alright. My address is **241 Parker Street, Oceanside, CA 92051**."

"Thank you. We'll be on the next flight there. See you soon, Mr. Allocco."

She hangs up and I do the same. "Who was that?" my sister asks as I plop down on the other side of the couch.

I pinch the bridge of my nose again. "It's a long story," I answer. "I think she said her name is Bailey and she's flying out here with Lily."

"Why? What happened to Nikki?" Kaiden asks, cocking an eyebrow at me.

I shrug. "I guess I'll find out when this lady gets here with my daughter," I respond, lounging back and laying my head against the back of the couch. "Fuck."

"Do you think it's something serious that happened with Nikki?" my sister asks, cocking an eyebrow.

"Obviously," I mutter. "This woman wouldn't just be flying out here with Lily if Nikki was just in the hospital for being injured or something. So obviously it's something serious."

{5:06 pm} That's when my overly exhausted looking fiancé enters the living room with a screaming baby in her arms. "Trent, can you please take your daughter?" Destiny whines. "I haven't been able to get a decent amount of sleep since yesterday morning and I'm slowly 'losing' my mind."

Standing up, I take my daughter from my fiancé and she beams at me. "Thanks, honey." She releases a soft, relieved sigh. "I'm going to get some sleep now. There's a few bags of my breast milk in the fridge that you can use to feed Annabelle if she needs it before I wake up."

Nodding, I peck my fiancé on the lips and then she disappears upstairs. I turn my undivided attention to my screaming daughter and gently bounce her. "Hi, baby girl," I coo. "You want to hang out with Daddy for a little bit?" She almost immediately stops crying and stares at me. I sit back down on the couch with her and get her comfortable in my arms. She stops fussing and starts sucking rapidly on her mee-mee as she shuts her eyes.

{5:11 pm} Dezerae lays her head against my shoulder and sighs. "What's wrong, baby?" I ask in a soft tone as I brush my fingers through her hair.

She sighs. "Do you ever wonder what this baby would have been if I continued carrying it?"

"Baby, I know it hurts," I mutter, brushing my fingers through her hair again. "But you know we can always keep trying."

"I know," she whispers.

That's when Devin and KJ come barreling into the living room and Devin crashes down on my lap while KJ crashes down on Dezerae's lap. Grunting softly, Dezerae grins widely at the boys. "Hi, Mama! Hi, Daddy!" they greet, forking over a wide, shit-eating grin. "I misses you, Daddy," KJ replies, wrapping his arms around my neck.

"Aw, I've missed you too, bud," I respond. After a quiet second, I ask, "Did y'all have fun at the park with Uncle Jake, Uncle Trent, Uncle Aiden, Matthew and Jace?"
